I keep hearing that depending on the ratings will determine if there is a series or not. So if it bombs, one can expect nothing else from it. If ratings actually turn up, then they will make a series.

Review from Fear Net which says it is a one shot special can be read here.
Some interesting and potentially awesome concepts that would fit right in as either a light lead-in to or palette cleansing chaser after Grimm. |
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
This Friday...
If it somehow gets a "monster" rating... has a shot at being picked up... |
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
Mcconnoll is on a radio interview and he seems to think it will be more then one episode.
He was saying, "as you'll see in other episodes.....". When describibg the context of the show. |

Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
24 minutes in, I'd call it better than Revolution.
Seriously, I think it's way too expensive a show for the ratings it would likely draw more than it being completely horrible. |
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
Interesting so far.

Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
Holy crap - this is rather good. I was going to give Fuller a chance after Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls, but I could get hooked.

Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
It's either that they really didn't like the dark sensibility (and if so they're morons for letting somebody even try this) or it was just crazy expensive for the ratings it would pull in.
|
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
That was pretty good. I'd love to see more.
|
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
I just finished watching this. I liked the dark humor of it.
|
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
I liked it. It reminded me a lot of Pushing Daisies, I was waiting for the announcer to come on and say "In the town of Coeur d'Coeurs, down Mocking Bird lane, lived a boy who didn't have a dog but was one."
|
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
I liked it too. You'd think with all the money they spent building sets they'd commit to more than 1 episode.
|
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
I enjoyed it as well. I'm in for more.

Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
Count me in as a fan of this reboot, it kept the a lot of the elements fans of the original remember while creating its own mythology and universe. I would love to see more but considering Bryan Fuller's record... I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
this should have been a full two hour TV-movie - just an hour was too short. This was vastly more entertaining than Tim Burton's film version of 'Dark Shadows'

Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
I wanted to hate this show but ended up liking the cast and its tone. Probably the best new concept (if one can call a remake of a popular show from the Golden Age of TV new) I've seen on NBC in years.

Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
Wow, I wonder how much of the budget went to CGI. For a TV show, there was a lot of it. Of course you can also see where they could save that money once the show went to series. I mean, would we really need to see CGI spiders weaving a dress on Lily's body again? Not that I'm complaining. This pilot looked like it had a LOT of money put in it.
Portia Di Rossi as Lily: "It is in my nature to eat and not be eaten." I didn't realize how selfish of a lover Ellen was. In what has been a really weak crop of new shows this year, this might be the best pilot I've seen. Last Resort was probably better, but the subsequent episodes have been pretty lackluster, taking away a bit of the excellence of the pilot. It was funny, it was smart, and it took the original concept of the series and didn't bastardize it. It used the old theme, which was a huge plus in my book. It's not The Munsters without that classic theme song. I really hope NBC gives this show a second chance. If they don't, at least we got to see it. |
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
This one was a miss for me. I wanted to like it, but good lord it was terrible. And I think it is because of how in your face some of the elements were.
However, I would give it another shot if Jerry O'Connell (horribly miscast) is gone and Eddie Izzard is a little less crazy. The CG and sets were incredible and the humor was cool, but the end result... I curious to see how it did in the ratings. |
Re: Bryan Fuller and NBC to reboot/remake The Munsters
I do not like Jerry O'Connell in this. Too bad Ty Burrell isn't avail he's creepy, funny and reminds me of Frankenstein.
