Competition wise, it's going against Two and a Half Men/Mike and Molly on CBS, Lone Star on FOX, & Dancing with the Stars on ABC. Gossip Girl is a non-factor.
Based off that alone, I can see it finishing like this in the timeslot
1) Dancing with the Stars
2) Two and a Half Men/Mike and Molly
3) The Event
4) Lone Star

I'm starting to feel like they should've had a 2 hour pilot, I understand they want to introduce characters but I want more of what the event is.

This show was all over the place! Way too many time jumps, and the ending completely ruined it for me. I was really hoping there wouldn't be any sci-fi.

just killed this franchise. Plus lack of caring for characters, plus lack of forward momentum, plus goofy ... yeah this might last 13 eps.
Seriously, the most interesting part was the super cliche "my xxxxx is missing and you don't believe me!" bit on the cruise, it was also the only part that stayed put for longer than 30 seconds.
