Re: DirecTV and AMC HD

Funny, I just emailed DTV on this last week and got this lame response:
"Please be advised that we do not offer AMC HD at this time, but we continue to have discussions with Rainbow Media, the owner of AMC, about adding the HD version of the channel. Stay tuned to directv.com/hd to keep up with the latest HD news."
I love both Mad Men and Breaking Bad, so it's driving me nuts to have both of those in old-SD all this time. Time to step up, DTV.

If I could see both of them in HD before the year is over, that would be fantastic.
Hell on Wheels has been getting horrid reviews from everyone who has seen it.

I got the same response from customer retention when I was getting Red Zone channel added to my account. But, the guy who posted the hints over at DBSTalk.com really does know what the hell he's talking about, so I have faith that it will happen.

So the new channels usually go live on Wednesdays, I believe...sounds like we should have something new tomorrow. Hopefully it's AMC...

This. Doctor Who is pitiful on their SD feed. But I also want AMC for Mad Men and Walking Dead!

maybe i misread, but I thought it was Wednesday after the Labor Day holiday. I'm almost positive now that's the case, because Sixto over there monitors sat activity for the testing of the channels and nothing has popped up yet.

Same way I interpreted it. Not tomorrow...September 7th. Would be happy to be wrong. Would be even happier if they could catch up with Dish HD basic channels, too, but I know better.

Yeah you're probably right, I didn't read it very carefully. I was just happy to read it's actually finally going to show up.

However, the channels in testing typically pop up a week before they launch. So everyone over there is anticipating the mystery channel to show up tomorrow as a test channel.

which is explained in the last part of my statement, where i said there has been no testing of these channels yet, so it's almost a 0% chance they will show up tomorrow.

Nice. About f'ing time.

I avoid DBSTalk for the most part because of how childish everyone is, but just skimming through the HD anticipation thread, that Coca Cola Kid character might be the biggest internet douche I've seen in a long while.

Re: DirecTV and AMC HD

DirecTV just tweeted out the info confirming it. Unfortunately, it doesn't go live until next Friday. I was hoping it would on Wednesday since they do an re-air of Sunday's Breaking Bad. Oh well. 3 HD episodes is still better than none.

Finally, it's about time. Now I can watch The Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels in HD before the year is up.

Is AMC HD the only new channel they are adding? Hint Hint....BBC America HD.

Then people would get it mixed up with Showtime.

I take it this is the only addition/change? I still want Turner Classics in HD.

Our next mission needs to be getting them to allow more than 50 season passes.

Yeah, he's done a lot of bitching today as he wanted Tru-HD. For every 5 posts praising the addition of AMC, he would complain. Looks like the mods finally told him to quit his bitching though.
