The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!

<ul>Rules<br> <li> The object of the game is to out-think everyone by picking answers to questions that are the most common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</font>) or least common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font>), but still correct. <li> Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</font> question: "Name a president of the United States." A good answer might be Lincoln and a bad answer might be the socialist. <li> Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font> question: "Name a brand of personal computer, past or present". Apple might be a bad answer, but Radio Shack might be a good answer. (Unless everyone is trying to go as obscure as possible). <li> Sheep scores are tallied as negative numbers. Reverse Sheep scores are tallied as positive numbers. The lowest score wins. <li> The answers to each question are tallied up. Wrong answers in Reverse Sheep are scored two points above the most common answer. This penalty is multiplied by the Lightning Round Multiplier. Wrong answers in Sheep are not penalized. <li> <b>NEW!</b> There are no Lightning Rounds in this game. Instead, each player is given five ×2 multipliers to use. Doing so is called "sweeps week". You may use them any way you see fit- use one multiplier a question, double them up, or use all five on one question. Go nuts! Experiment! <li> To use your "sweeps week" multiplier, simply put {sw} AFTER your answer. To use more than one, simply add additional {sw}. For example, if you want to use three on one question, you would put "{sw}{sw}{sw}" after your answer. <li> <b>NEW!</b> There is a Unique Bonus for <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font> Unique Answers. This is calculated based on the most common answer +2. Basically, it's the reverse of wrong answer scoring. <li> You may not cheat by using Google, Wikipedia, TV.com, etc. Use only what's in your head. <li> Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers or the question itself. Those who do not do this will be penalized 10 points right off the bat. <li> For your convenience, <a href="https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AiOdvf2j4ygPdHFQb3g1Z1VSdXVfalNfLUFIaUhQdFE&hl=en">I've made a Google Docs spreadsheet</a> where you can prepare your answers. When finished, just select the column of answers and send that in as text via PM. <li> The Borg are not a species. <li> Note: For the purposes of this game, <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font> answers will be determined to be correct or incorrect based on my whims. I can of course be swayed by evidence, argument, etc. However, a better way to curry favor is by giving me gifts. A particular favorite is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/McVities-Milk-Chocolate-HobNobs-9oz/dp/B000HY57AW">chocolate hobnobs</a> (Only 3 left in stock! Order soon!). PM me for my address. <li> Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font>, Reverse Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font>. <li> I would like to get at least 20 players. Under no circumstances will I take more than 30 (this excludes your game runner, of course). People that have run a game in the past or suggested questions to me that I have used have a guaranteed spot and will not count towards the cap of 30. <li> Special thanks goes out to The Bus for providing the formatting, rules, etc. for me to steal. <li> Additional special thanks goes to Count Dooku for providing me with questions suggestions, some of which I have used here. <li> The game will begin sometime next week. </ul> <ol> <u>The Questions</u><br> <li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> Name a cop show that began and ended its original run during the 1970s. <li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> TV's all-time most iconic police detective is... <li><FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font> Name a cop show produced primarily for US television that was not set in New York City, Baltimore or California. <li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> The greatest character on The Wire is... <li><FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font> Name a series created by either Steven Bochco or Dick Wolf. <li><FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font> Name a series with “Blue” in its title. <li> <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font> What cop show currently airing new episodes is your favorite? <li><FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font> Most cop shows are dramatic affairs. Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Sweeps week instructions say we can use one for each set, but the questions don't seem to be broken up into sets.

Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Thanks for doing another sheep game Tracer Bullet!
Question, is "cop show" a general show for procedural/detective/cop shows or just shows with police officers? |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Count me in. Will submit answers soon.

Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
For question #13, does it have to be a detective who is portrayed to be from Britain or one who is on a British TV show?

Derr. Thanks.

Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Unfortunately (for me) I won't be on vacation next week to enjoy the reveal, but I will submit my answers to get in the mix.
I have a feeling that people's ages are really going to come into play with this game. Good Luck! |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
submitted.
forgot the multipliers...resubmitted. |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
I am in!
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
resubmitted mine wth the multipliers.
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Answers sent. Not feeling very good about this one at all.
Should be fun though. |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Answers sent. I did have a question about #14, but I will risk it and go with what I sent.
This is a very good set of questions. I particularly like #2 & #9. I think #1 is going to screw me (as many of the sheep questions will). I imagine we will have very few "correct" answers to that one. |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
I've got 13 entries so far. One of you already messed up.
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
answers submitted

Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
I sent mine in earlier.
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Sent! I can already tell I'm going to do horribly.
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Resubmitted my answers as I missed the bit about sweeps week. Sorry Tracer Bullet!
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Submitted, realized I fogot my sweeps, and resubmitted!

Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
So when you say "cop show" you mean police, not like FBI, ATF, DEA, etc? I guess that's my biggest issue. There are tons of obscure shows that I could use to answer some of these, but they might be stretching the boundaries of what is considered a "cop" show.
Ok, I see the question 15 sort of answered my question, so I'll assume all the other questions deal with local police-type shows. |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Yeah, that's what I was concerned about since "cop" and "crime" can be intermingled. I just answered what I thought and let the chips fall where they may.
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
i see nothing about using the same answer for multiple questions. that is ok, right?
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Hope there's room for me, as the topic suggester if nothing else.

Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
Okay folks, we've got 22 entries. I'm going out of town this weekend, so I will take answers through the weekend, up to 30. I apologize if you don't make the cut, but these things get incredibly unwieldy with more than 30 players.
We'll start next week sometime. I'll have a better idea of when on Monday. |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
I think I'll have some time to start running through questions about 2PM EDT.
I'll take answers until then. |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
sent mine in.

Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
I just saw this (I've been on vacation). I'll see if I can slip in some answers before the deadline!
|
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
I sent my answers in...not sure if I made it in.
But I was curious to how liberal these answers would be. #3 is going to be my problem one. Tracer, I sent updated answers...there was a formatting issue with the first one I sent. Assuming I made it. |
Re: The Return of TV Sheep: Cop Shows!
I thought I'd already sent my answers in, but checking my PM history I hadn't. Just sent them in, hope there was still room. I don't watch a lot of cop shows, so not sure how good my answers were (and I totally guessed on my sweeps weeks, I have no idea what will be the common answer for any of the sheep questions).
