Yeah, stomach stapling will do that to you. Crazy thing is he's about 50 pounds lighter now compared to when the show taped.

And I was kind've sad to see the mass auditions go.....but not as sad as seeing the seasons eye candy leave this early.

I dunno -- I always liked seeing the reactions to the people who would make absolutely disgusting things. Here, even though the eliminated a bunch of people, all of the people who they eliminated appeared passable -- it was more of a "We have to eliminate someone and there are 20 better cooks than you" vs. "I could pick a stranger off the street and odds are they could cook better than you."

But I do love the good old Gordon Ramsey fake out -- "I'm sorry, but you are not going up to the balcony .... because they are coming down here to congratulate you on winning an apron!"

I always enjoyed watching the auditions...even the wife was a bit bummed.

I couldn't place who Astrid reminded me of, and the I figured it out: Gloria Trillo, the car saleswoman who has an affair with Tony Soprano.

Now that Astrid got the boot they seem to be kicking all of the eye-candy off first.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

at how Gordon ripped Dan's meatloaf to shreads. I didn't look that bad upon initial presentation.

I think both Dan and Stephani should have gotten the boot. Once Stephani told Gordon the type of meatloaf she was planning to do, it was DOA.

Whitney made absolutely no impression on me, so I really don't have a comment on her getting voted out.

Big Fat Willie looks like a top contender on this. That guy can cook. His meatloaf looked really good.

Even though they killed the audition episodes with contestant profiles, it seems like they are incorporating them into these top "xx" episodes so that we can at least kind of get to know these people.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

Damn man, another attractive chick gets eliminated. Kira was cute.

That was bullshit that Gordon saved Cutter. He donuts looked like shit and were missing the filling. Even Joe looked pissed seeing that they were missing the filling.

Leslie and Francis kicked ass. Leslie's donuts looked amazing and Francis had balls to make 12 different favors.

No one commented on the previous week, but if wasn't surprised that Stephani got eliminated. She was running on fumes.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

Do people really enjoy seeing the contestants fight? I can't figure out why they push it so hard. Most of the interview clips where they insult one another sounds so contrived, I'm convinced the producer literally asks them, "Would you please say, 'She's falling for my plan'." Most of what they are saying sounds clearly scripted, it isn't the way people talk.

I enjoy watching all the cooking and the pressure to get it done in time, but I'm getting close to dropping this show.

I still enjoy this show. You gotta know that if it's on Fox, there will be needless drama.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

Last Mondays episode had a lot of manufactured drama.

Leslie was flat out douche bag and the little war he had going with Ahran was super annoying. He was terrible running that Red Kitchen. I felt bad for Frances B taking charge because Leslie sucked, but was regarded as one of the worst by the judges. The kitchen would have been a disaster. They wouldn't have gotten anything out.

Jordan got eliminated because of his lack of experience. The Producers are probably salivating for more drama with Leslie.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

Got caught up with the last 3 episodes today

Bummer that Christine is now out with that damn truffle challenge. She did so well in the previous episode leading her team in that diner challenge. I liked her and she was decent looking as well.

Cutter really got lucky the previous 2 weeks. He was being a dick and disrespectful to Joe and Gordon. The truffle challenge from last week saved his ass.

Cutter is a strategic keep to appeal to the Walmart crowd. They're a big sponsor of the show.

I'm starting to root for Leslie. Despite his attitude initially he seems to be overcoming adversity time and again. Courtney on the other hand.....I can't stand that bitch. Everything about her is fake. Maybe I'm just falling for the routine reality TV editing but everything about her just irks me.

I was surprised by the last two eliminations though. I thought Francis was a frontrunner and that chick last week was a dark horse.

Ha, I said the same thing myself last night about Leslie. Weird.

As for Courtney, she is awfully cocky for someone whose a stripper... but she obviously has a lot of talent. And a beak that can put an eye out.

I had to look up the kid that was listed as a video game designer, turns out he worked for THQ and was Associate Creative Manager for Darksiders 1, 2 -- that oddly doesn't surprise me heh

Poor Ahran. She had a really good run and did quite well considering her age. I was impressed with her. Surprised she picked Leslie to win it all.

Sad to see Ahran go cause she seemed like a really nice kid. But yeah, at this point I'm absolutely cheering for Leslie to win the whole thing.

Ahran has so much potential and is so young. If she goes to culinary school and improves her craft, the sky is the limit for her.

I'm fine with either Leslie or Elizabeth winning.

What no love for Big Willie?
And what's up with Jamie's voice? She should be in Hollywood doing Zombie voice overs.

I like Big Willie alot. The thing is, he not that good of a cook, but he is a great "character".
