Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Community is the funniest show on television--can't believe it was overlooked.

Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Glad to see Dexter get alot more nominations this year... the Drama category is packed with some of my favorite shows... Im sure its very difficult to narrow down to six shows when there are great shows on many networks now

Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Strange that Rose Byrne is the "supporting" actress for Damages when her character is the center of the plot and she has more screen time than Glenn Close.
|
Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Glad to see no Greys Anatomy and Desperate Housewifes. Suprised community or Parks and Recreation didnt get nominated.
|
Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
I havn't been this happy/excited for the Emmy nominations in a very long time. No "Parenthood," "Community," "Justified," or "It's Always Sunny" is kind of a bummer but to see "Modern Family," "Friday Night Lights," and "The Good Wife" makes me really happy!

Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Guest Acting Category
In the past, this category featured performances by "true" guest stars. The Guest Acting category was limited to actors who appeared in six or fewer episodes of a show. Usually these would be high profile actors who were basically the stars of an outstanding "special" episode (Robin Williams and Vincent D'Onofrio on Homicide, for examples) or actors who had supporting roles in an multi-episode story arc (famous actors who appeared as defendants on The Practice). The Emmys changed the rules/definition of what is considered Guest Acting was changed a few years ago. Now anyone who's credited as a guest actor can be submitted, even if you think they're really a supporting actor. (For examples: Robert Morse on Mad Men, Ted Danson on Damages, and John Lithgow on Dexter) Zach Gilfrod, who plays Matt Saracen on Friday Night Lights, was in most of the show's episodes this season, and had previously been credited in the regular cast. But this year Gilford was credited as guest star, and submitted for nomination in the Guest Acting category, even though fans of the show would certainly consider him one of the series' supporting actors. |

I wonder if they tried to push Ed O'Neill for Best Comedy Actor or if he just got lost in the shuffle in Best Supporting.

Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Delighted with all the love for Modern Family. Now to see if an actual comedy show can beat out a much hyped alleged one (Glee).
That was interesting about the change to the Guest Star rule. I don't agree with the new changes at all. They should keep supporting actors in their own category and keep this one for guest stars. If David Kelly still had a show on TV, I bet he'd have been pissed. |
Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
No Sons of Anarchy is my only gripe.

Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
If Chenowith loses best guest actress, then i don't know what to say. Also kind of surprised that True Blood actually got a best drama nod

I agree with you on Grey's Anatomy. I was glad that the Emmy recognized Christina Hendricks this year instead of Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson.

Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
 to no nominations for Katey Sagal, Timothy Olyphant or It's Always Sunny.
|
Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
True Blood? Over... say... Friday Night Lights? :wtf:
As for Supporting, it's easy to go to Emmerson or O'Quinn for their performances on Lost, but Andre Braugher was excellent on MoaCA. And where is Chuck? Dammit! |
Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Glad to see some good shows get nominated, but I've said it before and I'll say it again: it should be a rule there can only be one nomination per show per category.
I love Modern Family, but there is no way three of the "best" five supporting actors on TV are on one show. Plus it puts cast member up against cast member, which isn't a good idea. |
Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
No John-Noble-as-Walter-Bishop-from-Fringe = no sale

Also can i be the one to bitch about the insanly overrated Mad Men getting all those nods |
Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
I love Elizabeth Mitchell, but she gets a nomination for what 2 episodes of work on Lost? Her work in the finale was good, but I didn't think it was Emmy-worthy.

Re: 2010 Emmy Nominations
Mark me as another one that doesn't like Glee. The musical numbers are well executed but the show itself is painful to sit through.

I've tried, didn't like it, however there are plenty of shows there that I don't like. The reason for the head shake is it being in the comedy category. I just hate to see awards taken away from shows that are written as comedies.
