Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

11 years later and would McCoy still be DA? I mean they would have to bring back some familiar face to hook the show's fans back in. I don't think the ADAs matter much. I liked Sisto and Anderson as the dicks. Black-ish is ending so Anderson could come back, but isn't Sisto on FBI?

DJariya 09-29-21 12:25 PM

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

Sisto is a lead on FBI, so he’s out.

Alana de La Garza is also a lead on FBI

Chris Noth is a lead on The Equalizer so he’s likely out too

S. Empatha Merkerson is one of the leads on Chicago Med.

Jesse Martin is still working on The Flash

The thing is FBI, the Chicago shows are in the same universe as Law and Order.

So aside from Waterston, Bratt, Angie Harmon, Elisabeth Rohm are possibly available.

Have to do some serious retconning to bring her back.

What about some of the OG cast? Dann Florek, etc? Michael Moriarty's character was killed off-screen, so he can't come back either.

Dann Florek’s character Cragen retired on SVU several years ago.

Oops I didn’t realize Hennessy’s character was killed off.

IIRC it wasn't part of the actual show like ADA Borgia. It was just the reason given as to why she wasn't on the show anymore.

There's also Cary Lowell as ada Jamie Ross, and later judge in L&O: Trial by Jury.

Noonan 09-29-21 01:27 PM

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

The one character that needs to be in the OG L&O is Merkerson. I hope she at least shows up as a captain or something in a small role. Regardless that Chicago Med is in the same universe.

You don't recall correctly; In the episode "Aftermath", ADA Kincaid gives an off-the-wagon Lennie Brisco a ride home from the bar, where they're T-boned on the driver's side. Claire is immediately killed.

Really? Damn...I've watched this show in reruns ad-nauseum at times. Surprised I don't recall that.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

Yeah, it was a departure from the normal L&O format; all the leads watch an execution at the open, and the rest of the episode is how they handle it. Bratt's Rey Curtis hooks up with Jennifer Garner in a park, McCoy gets piss drunk at a dive bar.

I remember it, 'cuz Jill Hennessy was not in usual courtroom attire, instead she spent most of the episode with her hair down and an absolutely adorable leather biker jacket.

It was a real shame this show got cancelled to start with. I thought they had the best cast/chemistry/and an improvement of the stories since the Lenny days over the last 2 seasons.

I assume they really want McCoy back .. hope they can bring a few others back as well.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

I'd guess Merkerson, Noth, Waterston and Bratt are the most populuar actors to bring back, with Waterston and Bratt being free.
The shared universe shouldn't be a problem since, since many actors had different roles in Wolf's shows. Andre Braugher was on SVU in a different role than in Homicide, while Richard Belzer was still playing Munch.
I would mind Linus Roache as ADA. I bet we will see a guest appearance by J.K. Simmons.

I still haven't seen most of the previous 20 seasons. Hopefully they will all be on Peacock soon.

Jeffrey Donovan has been cast as the lead for the 21st season. Now I'm 100% in. Love him. I know a lot of you hate network TV and crime procedurals, but Donovan is great IMO. Sam Waterston and Anthony Anderson are also in talks to return from previous cast members.

Oh shit, with that news, I am definitely in too. Love Donovan.

I'll take Donovan as an ADA with Waterson and Anderson returning, too? Awesome!

Damn.. while he'd be great as a detective, he'd be even more awesome as an ADA. Still will watch.

I like Donovan, so might check this one out. Although I also said I was interested in the Organized Crime series and have yet to watch a single episode.

OC a total joke. Unless you're into extreme absurdity.

Anthony Anderson has signed on. For 1-season.

Hugh Dancy from Hannibal has also signed on as a series regular. He's playing an ADA.

Waterston is still in talks.

Damn this is shaping up to be great. Dancy is awesome.
