Re: Network Upfronts 2010 (2010-2011 TV Season)
My thoughts on the new NBC shows:
Let me first say that i have ZERO interest in Law shows, so i won't even comment on them.
NBC going with the CIA action comedy/dramas. Chuck, now "The Undercovers", (although Chuck certainly looks like it has more comedic elements). Surprised they're not pairing them on the same night.
Replacing the superhero genre element with "The Cape", too, now that Heroes is gone. Looks a little campy, like something that would air on the CW... But it may be good.
"Chase" - does it make me sexist to have absolutely no interest in shows that have overly tough female leads? I like women and think they can do anything and everything. Just have zero interest in those shows.
"The Event" looks exactly like the type of show i swore i would now avoid (after exerting so much time on LOST )
"Perfect Couples" - actually got a few laughs out of the preview (the soundtrack, "you seacrested me!" and some others). And i have liked some of the cast in previous shows (most notably The Waitress from Always Sunny).
"Outsourced" - looks like an early cancellation to me (it will probably be the show "Perfect Couples" replaces). I just don't think you can sustain jokes about Indian culture and accents for a full season. I may actually give it a try, though, as I do work for a company that develops software for Callcenters...
"Friends with Benefits" - eh, no laughs from the preview. But I did like "500 Days of Summer", and this is from the same writers (or that could be misleading advertising).
"Love Bites" - I liked Jordana Spiro on "My Boys", and appears to have a decent cast... but didn't hook me with that preview. may just have been how it was structured. And a different story every week? This is a wifey show.

I have to admit, I'm shocked nobody has pitched a "vampire comedy", with all of the Twilight hysteria.

It would be awesome if the networks would toss a bunch of these pilots up on Amazon for free over the summer like NBC did a couple years ago.
^ Kevin Pollak has a vampire comedy web series called Vamped Out. The premiss sounds funny, but I haven't checked it out yet.
In a world gone crazy with movies, TV shows and books, featuring far too many beautiful vampires, what if you were a real one, who couldn’t get hired to “be” one?
