This is one of those truly rare shows that gets better with each episode. They don't stretch things out and it's clear the the writers know exactly where it's all going. Best damn show currently on TV and one of the five best shows of all time. Period. It's a perfect combination of fantastic writing, acting, directing, cinematography and music. And for those who don't know me, I don't give high praise lightly. I pretty much dislike most of the movies and shows that are out there right now. However Breaking Bad is proof that not everyone left in Hollywood are soulless, money-hungry, talentless hacks.

After that - I think his character has turned a corner, and may be a bit more humble.

Pure speculation here, but I'm now expecting Gale to be whacked, as Gus can't have too many loose ends leading back to the lab. And that will be yet another Walt-related death...

It seems to me that Hank is the only character that is actually a good person.
Every adult in the show has some major flaws but Hank is trying to do the right thing. He wants to catch a major drug dealer, protect his family, and he owned up to beating up Jessie.

Their marksmanship was bad but you wouldn't know probably because you've never fired a weapon in your life. As far as my grammar f..k off literally I could give a shit about putting effort into my internet post as long as my idea was conveyed.

oh snap, stc9357 I agree with you BUT, maybe you should just call him a loser, for him calling you out on your spelling and grammar skills in a forum, for dvds, instead of telling him off. People for some reason get banned for acting that way, not that I give a fuck........ But if you need to get your frustrations out on him for being a loser, for him pointing out your spelling and grammatical flaws, you could probably call him a fucking loser, and it might make you feel a little better by using the f word, and it would not be against the rules of a forum......for dvds. Not that I give a fuck.

I know someone up above criticized the brother going back for the axe, but I find that totally believable. This wasn't just a "job" for them, it was personal. They weren't there for money, they were there for revenge. Killing him with the gun while he laid there would be "too easy" for both the brother and Hank; he wanted it to be slow and painful and wanted Hank to suffer. It makes perfect sense that he went back for the axe, especially when he thought he was out of ammunition.

The possibility that it wasn't present day was clear because:
1) Tio is presently a cripple in a wheelchair and gray haired.
2) The context of the conversation illustrated that Gus was breaking into the business and Tio was expressing his concerns but ultimately offering his support for the move.

Not to be insulting, but I really don't understand how anyone missed that the beginning was a flashback.
Mark Margolis was once again playing Tio. In the present, Tio is confined to a wheelchair, weak, can't speak, and has white/gray hair. In that scene, Tio was able to stand, strong enough to hold someone under water, talked, and had dark hair. They did everything but post at the bottom of the screen "20 years ago." If you missed it was Tio in a flashback, I really question how close you are watching the show.
This entire season we have seen the Cousins and their relationship with Tio. Why on earth would anyone think the two kids in that scene were anyone BUT the Cousins?
He was talking about Gus on the phone. If you read what he said, it was clear he was talking about a newcomer. In the present, Gus is clearly not a newcomer.
---
I don't know why anyone would want Hank dead. He is a great character and the moral center of the show.
Is he a bit cocky? Sure. Has he made mistakes? Yes. But of all the characters, he is constantly trying to do the right thing. If Walt were in Hank's position, he absolutely would have lied and said Jesse attacked him first, but Hank is a stand-up guy and was going to take responsibility for what he has done. And all of the mistakes he has made have been while trying to stop criminals.
If anyone deserves to die in the show, it's Walt. He really isn't a good person, and I suspect he wasn't a good person long before we met him. If the series ends and he hasn't been killed or imprisoned, I think I'll be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I like the character a lot, but after all he has done he shouldn't get to just walk away.

I've fired plenty of weapons in my life, so thanks. Perhaps you should just realize that you're watching a television show where certain things may be fudged in the name of entertainment rather than trying to microanalyze every little detail. Jesus, it's not like they walked up within a foot of the car with an M-16 and completely missed both Hank and the car.

I wasn't too big of a fan about the last bullet ... seemed obvious that was a setup when it was handed over, but I guess it's yet another coincidence I can live with on this show.

The phone was the first thing that tipped me - and it was 25 seconds into the episode. From that point on it was easy to figure out who everyone was and roughly how long ago it happened.

Like the agent told Hank before he got on the elevator, it is like a guardian angel is watching over him.
