Silly/stupid reasons for checking out a TV show?
Recently the Canadian equivalent of the Sci-Fi channel (here called Space) began airing the HBO series "True Blood", and while I had no interest at all in it, I tuned in for one very silly, very stupid reason:
Hearing Stephen Moyer's character Bill say the name "Sookie" in the commercials for it.
I couldn't help but laugh at that, and there's even two great youtube videos of it:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EkFtV4oYe-s&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EkFtV4oYe-s&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/B8Up2BVF3Pk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/B8Up2BVF3Pk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I mean how ridiculous is that?
He says that name with such intensity, such devotion, damn it's funny.
Do you have any similarly stupid reasons for catching a show you've not seen before?
Maybe you found a favorite show because of something silly about it that caught your attention.

Does watching True Blood for the near-soft-core-porn-level sex scenes count? Nah, that's not a silly reason. That's a great reason.

That was a shock. I had no idea this show had so much of that. I didn't know anything about it beyond the commercials.

I thought The Mentalist was supposed to be a show about a real mentalist with a studio audience where he gleans info about people. When I saw the first few minutes of the pilot I thought "Oh this must be like one of those re-enactments like like on Beyond Belief."
Needless to say it was not what I was expecting, though I am a happy fan of the show now.

Saw preview commercials for The OC back in 2004. Refused to watch it. Chick show. yada yada
Saw a commercial for the Season 1, Episode 6: The Girlfriend. Some hot blonde was featured. I was like, oh well I guess I'll check it out.
Watched the full episode, realized the blonde wasn't all that, and ever since then, my celebrity crush has been Rachel Bilson. And I watched the rest of The OC until the series finale...hahaha

Started watching season 2 of Californication because I heard it was about middle aged man banging young chicks. Eva Amurri fulfilled that last season as well. Been a fan ever since.

All my silly reasons for watching a TV seem to revolve around the idea of "hey, it's that cute girl who was on that one show I used to like- let's see if the show she's currently on is any good."

I started watching Smallville just because I heard a snippet of information that they were never going to put Clark in the Superman outfit with the possible exception of the very last scene of the series.
That was about 6 convoluted seasons ago and I've since given up, even though I still believe that would be the absolute coolest final shot ever!

I checked out Glee friday night because I heard they were going to do Queen and that they actually already had. Two days later and I'm completely caught up.

I watched all 15 episodes or whatever of "Stacked" because I've always had a thing for Pam Anderson. I know, I have terrible superficial taste
