Isn't Sledge the kid from Jurassic Park who's had like 3 scenes?

They hadn't shown him before as far as I can tell. It was just a random Marine that Leckie saw shoot himself.
The guy was speaking French, so I am assuming that he was the Canadian they talked about at the beginning of the episode.

Yes that's him, but I think he's been in every episode except one (part three). Remember we saw him tell his father he was going to join the Marines notwithstanding his heart murmur. This week's episode showed him training in the US as a mortarman. He's a replacement---he'll be in action soon enough.

Ahh, good catch. They said he was from the European Theater of Operations right? That shows the mental strain the jungle can put on a soldier.

It was the French (French Canadian?) guy they mentioned earlier in the episode.

Remember the scene when Leckie's sitting at the picnic table and the doctor comes up with the burger and fries and sits down and talks to him? I know this is going to sound silly, but I was really distracted by the Coke bottle.

Leckie was using an empty Coke bottle as an ashtray. When the doctor was speaking (and the camera was shooting over Leckie's shoulder), the bottle was filled with smoke; there was even smoke coming out the top of the bottle. But when Leckie was talking (and the camera was shooting over the doctors shoulder), the bottle was clear.

It was the kind of goof I'm used to seeing on Entourage - not a $100+ million miniseries.

Silly, I know. But it bugs me.

I can't picture his face, but I would recognize Basilone if they showed him. Sledge, no. Of course I know who he is when they show him because of the context, but I didn't know his name until someone posted it earlier in this thread and probably couldn't pick the actor out of a lineup.

It's the little things sometimes. At the beginning of the episode I caught an extra looking into the camera. One of the guys standing on the boat. No big deal, but did see it.
