Re: Breaking Bad -- "I.F.T." -- 04/04/10
Oh those poor women...
I guess Skylar throwing herself at her boss last season(before she knew anything) so she could screw him early on was an accident? Is that how loyal, wholesome, loving women react to their dying husband maybe acting a little funny? They go get a job with an old flame so they can screw him? Then take everything away from the man hoping he'll just hurry up and die? Yeah she's a peach.
All because her 'no good' husband takes extreme measures to provide for them/her before he dies. The bastard! Oh yeah and tries to protect her from knowing how he did it for her own good. What a rotten SOB!
Lemme guess, Skylar doing the same thing to her son is noble right? Deceiving him to protect him from the truth? You know, how she's doing the very same thing she's supposedly so righteously indignant about? I suppose she's going to stop lying to him about fucking around and screwing over his dad any day now?
Walt's a pansy now and it's pathetic. Skylar's a selfish bitch who was unfaithful, selfish, and rotten when her dying husband needed and cared for her most.

Skyler has reacted to Walt the way many flawed, real people would have. Many people would be frantic when their spouse refused cancer treatment. Many people would be angry at their cancer patient spouse trying to refuse having the treatment paid for. Many people would be furious to discover lies upon lies that Walt told Skyler. Never telling his own mother he had cancer, using the sweat lodge as another excuse to be gone, all to deal crystal meth putting his family at risk when he could have had the whole thing paid for except for his idiotic pride, etc. etc. etc. And for two seasons Skyler was deeplyconflicted about being angry at a man she loved with possibly terminal cancer who lied and lied and lied. Not a bitch looking to get out ASAP.
Many people would go back to an old boss for a job when their finances looked insurmountable. Many people have been tempted by a workplace romance, especially when they felt betrayed by their longtime spouse. Even without that betrayal, Skyler's relationship with Ted is a very realistic situation. You must not have noticed the scenes where Skyler struggled with her temptations. You know, like a person.
And many people would react exactly like Skyler did when it all clicked for her. She is a very well written character riddled with flaws like all the other characters on the show. Not a cardboard cutout with the word BITCH spray painted all over it.
Walt brought this on himself. He isn't a hardcore badass, never has been throughout the show. His inner conflicts have also been shown realistically, right down to his superb portrayal of letting the girl die.
It's a credit to the creators that there are such varied reactions to the characters. This isn't a show where you're supposed to like everyone or everything they do. Personally I find myself empathizing with most of the characters most of the time, and wondering what I would do in their shoes. Sometimes I think I would make the wrong choice right along with them.

I agree well said! She did what most women do in that situation use her vagina (either clamp it down or open it up to other men) since she was powerless to do anything else.

a valid reason from him. I missed him trying the other door.
Also, there was a scene just like this one on Friday Night Lights and to be honest, they did it better. It was more believable.

Wow. You're a little too pissed at these make believe people. Both characters, Skyler and Walt, are far more realistic and nuanced than you are giving them credit for.

I still say she's a rotten bitch!

I think Gus likes Walt. That is why he fought to keep him alive, he also puts out a superior product. Walt is the kind of man Gus wants to do business with not psychos like Tuco and the cousins. Even though he is dying, his marriage is falling apart, and Hank is on his tail Walt still has something to lose and Gus likes that.

Yeah, besides his drugs, I'm pretty sure the way Walt respected Gus when he met with him last went a long ways in having Gus look out for him.

I'm a bit behind the game here. I just watched BB S1 & S2 and am catching up on S3 now. The show is great, but man I'm really hating Skylar now. She is such a hypocritical bitch. Ah well, I'm headed back to finish this episode.

I don't think Walt and Skyler's marriage was as stable as it seemed to be at the beginning of the series. Skyler's reaction after she found out Walt's secret point to troubles that go deeper. Just my opinion.
