I hate to add yet another Lost thread but figured it might get missed in the weekly thread. Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse just announced it on Jimmy Kimmel that the Series Finale will be Sunday May 23rd. This means that either they will be skipping a week sometime this season or that there will be a 12 day wait between the series finale and the episode before it.

I know its only a week but I was hoping for once they would actually run the season straight through. They've been saying they would since Season 4 but it hasn't happened yet. My guess is that they'll take off for a week during the Olympics.

Can't wait!

Maybe they'll air a mega-recap episode on Tuesday the 18th.

Or a recap of the recap episodes.

Sounds like there will be a bit of a break... which is fine with me if it allows them a little extra time to finish making the series.

On nightline they were on the set of lost and I think they said they were shooting the last two episodes, so the break has nothing to do with giving them extra time to finish up. Its probably just so that they can skip a week for Olympics, avoid competing with American Idol for the series finale, or they just want to drag it out til the end of sweeps.

I look forward to all the complaints that the show didn't spoon-feed us answers to every single question raised over the course of the series.

Is Sunday night an easier night to get ratings for? I thought weekends were a ratings wasteland....

Incorrect, Friday and Saturday are ratings wasteland. People still watch scripted TV on Sunday's.

Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters occupy the 9 and 10pm timeslots on Sunday and do quite well. I assume both will be off that day for this to be a 2 hour series finale.

The main reason is that American Idol will have it's finale on the 25th and the 26th. Idol has always run their finale the week of the Memorial Day weekend, and ABC or anyone would be nuts to run any finale against it. 24 should end it's season on the 24th then.

Can't wait. This will be like a Survivor finale on Sunday but actually real.

For anyone just starting to watch, here's a quick rundown of what's happened...from people who have never seen LOST:

Exact reason why I don't lsiten to a word out of someone who tries to comment on this show without sitting down and watching it. My brother tries to bash this show but doesn't know a lick about it.

I enjoy both ends of the stick when it comes to people and Lost. It's either the worst show ever or it's the single greatest thing in the history of mankind and nothing will ever compare. I actually enjoy that even more than the show itself.

Weren't they saying a few months ago that Lost would break for two weeks for the Olympics and then be back on in March? Is that still the plan? That would only leave one more episode for next Tuesday then nothing till 3/2.

I highly doubt that is still the plan. With the final set for the end of May and almost 4 months of episodes left to run I'm pretty sure it will be going straight to the end.

ABC realized that the people who watch LOST aren't going to choose to watch Olympics over new eps of the show.

I have never actually seen an episode but will be buying the complete series on dvd when it comes out. Unless of course the ending sucks harder than X-Files finale thus making the entire series shit.

It would have to suck super hard so I would bet that you're buying the set in just a few months.

That would be hilarious... if I didn't feel so bad for those people. I can't imagine missing out on Lost.

I'm actually upset that it is ending. NOTHING really compares to it.
