Not everyone can be Chris Claremont or Peter David.

Wow. I don't know what to say about yesterday's episode. A few really good moments, and a few terrible ones.
- Matt & his wife, that was awful acting in that sequence
- Peter, Ma, & Cello girl, terrible
- Samuel kidnapping Vanessa and her plea to be released was just the worst
Seriously, it feels like 8 different people write 5 minute bits on this show and they just paste it to make the episode.

Finally something sort of happened. I guess I'll take anything at this point after 2 hours last week of nothing.
Didn't Peter say he wanted to keep Claire's power for a while last week? And then take flying boys power in pretty much the next scene.
Why did Ando take Hiro from Japan to a mental institution in Florida?
I was ready to say enough with Cello girl but they got in interested in her again with Peter's dream.

What's frustrating with this show is that even now, after 2-3 bad seasons, there's still plenty of potential with all the characters. So it's worth checking out if they manage to make something good. Sadly, the show was only half good.

Wow, what a dearth of posts.
There are some things I liked about yesterday's episode, where they actually recognized things that happened in past episodes! Mohinder mentioning that Hiro was the one who put him in the asylum (I know that was only a few eps ago but I thought they would just drop it). Ando remembering that there was an alternate future where he electrocuted Hiro (even though that particular Deus Ex Machina was a little lame). Parkman actually questioning all the stupid stuff he did in the past (though his sense of responsibility will no doubt force him to act). Parkman actually questioning HRG's methods (why not just ask your daughter for the compass, dummy). There actually being a point to the compass tattoo on Peter. Peter using his power to forward the plot (although the whole confusing scene with his flying powers was rendered completely unnecessary). And I liked the last scene, with Hiro and co. crashing HRGs place (instead of spending three episodes wandering around a swamp). There was actually a point to introducing Cello girl, and a point to her powers. Very little of Claire and her idiocy.
The Vanessa stuff was terrible, but maybe that was to show the cult-like pull that Samuel has. I still don't understand how Samuel transformed from somewhat of a bumbler to such an accomplished cult leader. And how stupid is Peter, still?

My DVR screwed up and I missed the first 20 minutes or so. Could somebody please tell me why Parkman was working with Noah? Parkman has been MIA for like the last 6 episodes and if I remember correctly, had absolutely nothing to do with Samuel and the carnival folk. Why would he just all of a sudden be working with Noah? Was that explained at all in the first 20 minutes of the episode.

Yeah.
Since being hunted by the cops for murder, shot nearly dead, escaping from police custody in the hospital, and not being cleared for any of it, Parkman's been reluctant to re-enter the job market. Not because he's a wanted man or anything but because he wants to be a stay-at-home dad!
When HRG asks him for help on the case, Parkman reminds him that the last time he was asked to lend a hand, he had a serial killer stuck in his head and was turned into Swiss cheese. Parkman asks for one good reason why he should go, HRG obviously said "FOR CLAIRE!", and he agreed since this is Heroes.

Maybe the show has been doing what it did in the first year? Like maybe there was a webcomic last week that explained that since she can see sounds, she's learned to hear what people are saying by watching the colors that float by?
I haven't looked at those webcomics since the first season. I wonder if there was one focusing on the paramedics (Peter's coworkers?) who were treating his wound last week when he just sat up, removed his bandages and healed while ten feet away from them.

But we're talking about a guy that got re-instated as a Police Detective a few months after he was arrested on national TV in front of the White House strapped with a bomb.

I thought Parkman agreed because HRG insinuated that they would come after Parkman's son eventually. That's also why he was staring at his son later on while deciding whether or not he was a coward.
But yeah, him jumping back into his old life after all that had happened seemed a little odd, though he of all people could do it, considering his power. And he actually acknowledged that he let Sylar go and then didn't do anything about it! It's like someone remembered there should be some continuity in this show. Now they only need to work on moving the plot forward without showing their main characters to be idiots.
Also, does Samuel and his circus travel underground with his power, somehow?

I thought this was twice as good as last week. Probably because it was half as long.

Suresh can break out of his padded cell, but has problems picking Ando up off the floor?

And this is just being picky, but it cracked me up when the alarm started going off and Suresh said "They must have searched my cell!" I don't know if they bother with an extensive search of a cell when the door is lying in the hallway.

Thought I'd put this here...
I know that there is a René / Samuel anecdote in here somewhere, but I just can't bring myself to it.

'Heroes' actor searching for parents after earthquake

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

(CNN) -- Haitian native and "Heroes" cast member Jimmy Jean-Louis was searching for his elderly parents in Haiti on Wednesday afternoon after a powerful earthquake struck the nation. Jean-Louis learned that a house he had grown up in collapsed, killing several of his relatives.
"I have not slept yet. The second house that I grew up in was down, and some relatives have died, from what I have been told," Jean-Louis said Wednesday. "I haven't been able to reach my parents. I have heard that they are OK, but I do not know what is going on around them."
Jean-Louis was born in Petionville, Haiti, where he grew up without electricity or running water. He moved to Paris, France, when he was 12 to pursue a modeling career and supported his parents by sending money home since he started acting nearly 20 years ago.
He is the founder of Hollywood Unites for Haiti, a nonprofit organization whose original mission was to provide sports and cultural education to underprivileged youth on the island. The group is mobilizing for disaster relief after a magnitude-7 earthquake struck Tuesday.
The actor heard about the quake moments after the news broke. For several hours, he was unable to get in touch with anyone on the ground in Haiti. Late Tuesday, he reached a friend who is the local director of Hollywood Unites for Haiti.
"He was stuck in the chaos, and he was supposed to give me complete details about what was going on on the ground and with my family, but all he could say was that the house was down and that some people from the house died," Jean-Louis said. "I'm trying everyone on their cell phones and on their house phones, my parents' friends and the people in their neighborhood, and I have been unable to speak with one person who is close to them."
Jean-Louis, who is best known as "The Haitian" on the NBC series "Heroes," returned from Haiti only a couple of weeks ago after spending the holidays with his parents. He was planning to return this month but will now be traveling much sooner to provide relief aid.
"I am going to try to get in, but I am going to try to understand the situation first to see how I can best help," Jean-Louis said. "The plan is to at some point visit, and right now, I am trying to be as productive as I can be here."
Jean-Louis and Hollywood Unites for Haiti are encouraging people looking to help to send money instead of goods at the moment.
"People should understand that sending donations of items and goods will be difficult right now because we will be bombarded and have no way to distribute them," Jean-Louis said.
"I don't think people have any idea how terrible this is because of the circumstances on the ground in Haiti and the lack of the infrastructure. There are no roads, and it is going to be extremely difficult for help to reach people."
