Re: The One and Only KITCHEN NIGHTMARES / HELL'S KITCHEN Thread

Geez, as if to illustrate my point from above I watched last week's Hell's Kitchen tonight and it was yet another non-elimination episode. So out of curiosity I looked at past seasons, and until recently they were about 15 episodes long. Now they are 22 episodes. That is just too long. It would be much better if they ran two half seasons with two separate sets of contestants. Or air two episodes a week. There is just no way a season of Hell's Kitchen should last as many episodes as a typical Fall/Winter/Spring scripted network TV series.

It's kind of a weird complaint about Hell's Kitchen but every time there's a confessional every contestant has something bleeped every time they say something. It's like a requirement. It just feels forced and it's getting old and annoying.

I think that comes with the territory.

Burnt scallops? Check. Most of the chefs chain smoking? Definitely. Gordon slamming has fist on the counter "having enough"? Yep. The infamous elimination fake-out? You got it. These, along with the constant swearing, has been the staples of the show.

That's what made the show corny but fun to watch this entire time. I just don't care for how Fox has been milking it and really stretching seasons. It should be one elimination per week but I guess they need things to fill their summer schedule.

It's over. A winner was chosen from seemingly 200 contestants. Now we must wait six weeks before the next thirty or forty episode season starts in September.

I just can't get into the show anymore, I enjoy Masterchef, but Hell's Kitchen now just strikes me as shitty people doing an okay job and being rewarded handsomely for it.

I dunno about that. None of the previous winners are really doing anything of merit, since the real prize is a sous chef position at whatever restaurant. I don't envision the cash prize coming close to what is advertised.

But I agree, I'm kind of HK burnt. I enjoy MasterChef quite a bit more now.

Hell's kitchen is still entertaining but has gotten old. Sick of every challenge going down to the last decider and very average contestants

Scott was the best possible winner

The last time I visited my sister, there was a big sign on the local steakhouse that Jillian Flathers (the dark haired girl with the weird eyebrows from season 8) was the new chef there. Guess it was a big enough deal out there that it made the local news.

Well yeah, she was on TV. I haven't seen any other contestants become household names or even stay at any of their positions won on the show for any decent length of time.

I did see Tommy (weird tattoo guy) from a few seasons ago on Cutthroat Kitchen back in April. He had shaved his head.

And despite the numbers, auditors seemed optimistic in the reports, noting that while “directors expect the trading environment to remaining [sic] challenging in the near future … the principal measure used to assess performance is operating profit,” which they found satisfactory, and that the “company has no significant concentrations of credit risk.”

That's all I was skimming the article for.

$50M in debt is nothing, if your cashflow is plentiful.

Ramsay has a new show on the UK's Channel 4, called "Ramsey's Costa del Nightmares." Same concept as Kitchen Nightmares, but he visit European vacation spots owned by Brits.

No idea if it will ever air in the US or not.

I just watched the Costa del nightmares episode, the first one and it was not bad, better than the US series, more like the original UK version and it's fun to see restaurants in holiday spots.

Sucks that the US version of Kitchen Nightmares is over. Sucks even worse that its not available on DVD.

Samy & Amy are up to their old ways---

I cannot believe that this place is still open. Since we all know that Samy is a gangster, the restaurant must be a front for money laundering.

That's pathetic - whether it's for real or for show.

They aren't being filmed anymore so why would it be for "show?"

Yeah - is this the only place in that town to get something to eat?

How are people still going to this restaurant?

Because Samy will hunt them down and kill them if they don't?

Front sounds right! Even if he's rich and is funding his wife's hobby he can't be that rich! Even Ramsey said their cakes were good though. Maybe its a money maker?

Re: The One and Only KITCHEN NIGHTMARES / HELL'S KITCHEN Thread

Pssst: They are airing new episodes of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares on BBCA Thursday nights at 8 central. This is the original UK/good version. First episode was last week but is being rerun before this week's.
