It's been less than a day and I can hardly believe I watched two episodes because I can barely remember enough content for one.

The worst written episodes of season four. Last night might be the moment where the show finally died. Did anyone else find the torture subplot a bizarre interjection out of nowhere? At one point I expected a character to break the fourth wall and address the audience on the negatives of torturing terrorists for information. Ridiculously bad plotting and characterization in both episodes...

Everything was bizarre. What was up with Peter and Claire in that office building... where there was a shooter.. at night no less.. you know because office shootings always happen when the sun goes down. Then Peter gets shot... in the chest... laying on a gurney... with absolutely no one rushing him to the hospital. He has a casual conversation with Claire... laying there... bleeding.
As I started watching, I said to myself "this better go somewhere tonight. I'm sick of nothing happening in each episode" I was disappointed again. Absolutely nothing happened in either episode. No plot progression whatsoever. Both episodes could have been completely cut from the season and nobody would have even noticed.
Heroes is like 24 in that each season follows 1 main arch, but the difference is that you could literally watch every other or even every third episode of Heroes and not miss anything. Although repetitive in its own right, I missed an episode of 24 once and was totally lost the next week because so much happens in just one episode of that show. Heroes is like a soap opera. Even though soaps run every day, you could tune in once a week and still know exactly what's going on because the plot moves so slowly.
God this show sucks. Why did I even start watching this season?

Last night it finally happened: I fell asleep while watching Heroes. Tonight, I watched the rest of it and realize that I wasn't just tired, I was bored.
Since there are only 5 episodes left this season, I'll stay with it, but I probably won't be back if the show is renewed.

Oh, I liked the part where Claire bled on the limes, got a band-aid and went right back to work with the same knife.

Too bad no lime-healing shenanigans ensued.

I really like Heroes in general but these were two of the most boring episodes I've seen. There were some good moments but not many and bad moments out weighed the good ones. I didn't like the way Peter got up and walked away without anyone saying boo about it. I didn't like not seeing Nathan's other kids at the funeral. I didn't understand the ink thing with Spock. Didn't really care for Hiro's story line. Didn't like the music lady
I did like the Sylar getting sand blasted and that is about it.

The real tragedy of Heroes is that they put together a good ensemble cast, the art direction is good, the direction is good, but the writing is just FUCKING AWFUL.
The writing just fails on almost every level. They can't seem to juggle multiple storylines. They can't seem to straighten out what the characters can and can't do. They build these characters up to the point where they're nearly omnipotent and then have to depower them in ambiguous and unconvincing ways. They can't seem to find anything for Hiro to do but act like a fucking idiot. The plots hinge on characters acting in irrational ways.

The Monday night ratings, as reported in today's NY Times: "NBC was fourth with a two-hour installment of “Heroes” (4.9 million) and “The Jay Leno Show” (4.8 million)".
Probably the less than 5M that tuned in for the midseason kickstart to the show will dissipate over the next few weeks ..... I can't see any way this will get renewed. But then, this is the network that has successfully positioned itself at the bottom, so who knows .....

I'm watching but if it dies it dies. I won't think twice about it.

Another problem is the writers just don't want to change/challenge these characters. We've seen plenty of future "bad ass" versions of characters (at least Peter, Hiro and Claire) and it would be awesome if the writers had sat down in season one and mapped out a progression for some of these characters to become hardened. Instead characters haven't matured much at all, and when they do act differently it's usually without any logical reason and done simply to service the plot. In this respect, it may again be Peter that's getting the best treatment, with Nathan's death as a catalyst.

From EW, kinda spoilery on the season finale (nothing plot specific):
I remember seeing a tweet from Greg Grunberg saying that he got a script for one of the episodes this season and saying that it was amazing and that it was going to be mindblowing. I've been wondering if he really believed that.

Grunberg know's jack. He wants to believe it will get a final season, but it's not written in stone. I'd say the chances are good, citing exactly the same reasons he did - get the show to 100 episodes. Another small season will do that.

They were at the funeral. According to the credits, at least, the two kids were definitely brought back -- although they were just sitting in the background -- but Mom was replaced by a different actress and had a black veil over her face.

PS I dropped Heroes a few months ago and just open these threads from time-to-time to see what's happening. Looks like I'm not missing anything!

This is where I left off. I couldn't hold on any longer and fell asleep. I thought he was killed as well, and if they had to bring him back, I thought he was going to help Claire. Thanks everyone for outlining the rest of the episodes. Usually I wait until I've watched to read this thread, but I think I'll be deleting this. I need those two hours free to add other shows.
