He said "You're a killer..." but then clarified by saying "...you're slowly killing this entire family!" He wasn't accusing dad of being an actual murderer.

The scene at Arthur's house was surreal. I thought shit was going to hit the an when the mom caught the daughter coming on to Dexter, but then told him she didn't care what he did or was going to do with her as long as he didn't tell Trinity.

to the scaled back LaGuerta and Angel story.

That line could go either way. He was standing in his father's "trophy" area when he called him a "killer," there was a beat, and then he added the thing about slowly killing this family, as if to correct himself.

Could have just been a fake-out for the viewing audience, or the kid really does know what Dad has been up to and covered his ass after dropping that bomb.

I agree with Josh, it can go either way.

I think you're reading too much into it. The beat was for the audience, nothing more.

And here I thought you guys saying the reporter was the shooter were crazy. Without the trinity link it doesn't make much sense.

Her article on Lundy was helpful to Trinity on two levels, first it tipped him off about Lundy and it also shut down the assistance from the Miami PD because the article framed it as a waste of resources for a department struggling to catch the vacation killer. As for why she didn't tip off Trinity herself, I'm not sure she even talks to him directly. She got tipped off about the DNA sweeps but it didn't appear that Trinity knew when Dexter told him.

Speaking of Lundy I caught a bit of a rerun of Criminal Minds where the same actor was playing a serial killer.

Yeah, no doubt that the son was not talking about his father literally being a killer.

And that ending blew my mind.

I think it's too much of a stretch. Basically it was a cold case, and the reporter knew only Lundy was working on it. She warns her father through the newspaper, even though they're in the same city? Then she goes and kills Lundy anyways (but lets Debra live for some reason) to protect her father? Just remove Lundy and avoid any media attention and the possibility of bringing this cold case to the front burner - the trail/investigation could've been dead right there.

The only thing I didn't get was the family's reaction to Dexter attacking Trinity. I get that it might have been kind of shocking for them, seeing the monster in 'Kyle'. And, they don't know Arthur himself is a murderer, but he's obviously abusive and was strangling his own son.

I'm surprised Dexter didn't just punch him or something though - guy just lost it!

Courtney Ford is just sexy as all hell....

But as much as I complain few shows are total shit, this show is so damn good lately it's sick. Other shows should be ashamed of themselves this show is that good. Bravo.

My initial thought of the son's "killer" response was that he/the family knows the father is/has killed someone (or more), but I guess it could go either way.

Here's the clip:

Preview (spoiler'd in case someone accidently starts the video and bitches about it.)

Spoiler:
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ajn79vlfsDA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ajn79vlfsDA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

I really kind of hope
Spoiler:
he kills Arthur and just gets it over with. How many times can he keep coming after him? It's doubtful since there would be two episodes to go with nothing TOO "major" to happen to wrap up the season...

Re: Dexter - "Hungry Man" - 11/22/09

Something I thought of when watching this epsisode. We're always reminded that one major reason Dexter went out with Rita and eventually got married was to blend in with everyone else. This episode shows the opposite results. Deb, Masuka, Laguerta, Batista, and Quinn seem like pretty lonely people - with no significant other or (for the most part) any family to spend Thanksgiving with. Even Lundy and Doakes appeared to be going solo before they died.

By getting married, Dexter seems to stick out like a sore thumb more than he's blending in with everyone else.

Perhaps we'll get the start of a new story (Deb's investigation of Dexter's mom leading her on the path to finding out about Dexter) which will carry over to the new season.

EDIT: just maybe Trinity will find a lot more about Dexter, and before he dies the reporter/daughter is in on the secret. And before reporter/daughter dies, she spills some small snippet of information about Dexter to Deb - which brings us to a major Season 5 storyline.

Hahaha... nice observation! Although just because he doesn't blend in with his co-workers doesn't mean anyone's going to think it's suspicious that he's got a girlfriend/wife/family. I think they mean blending in with "society."

Detectives are commonly portrayed as being either single or having strained relationships due to "the work," "the case," etc.

Re: Dexter - "Hungry Man" - 11/22/09

True; plus
Spoiler:
even if he kills Trinity, his daughter would theoretically still be out there. She could easily find out via her father who "Kyle" really is and wreak some havoc for a while.

I think it'd be pretty interesting if the police actually CAUGHT one of these damn serial killers for once, rather than just have them either disappear or commit suicide every time. Say Deb manages to catch Trinity, and he spills some dirt about "Kyle," whom at that point he'd HAVE to know wasn't really who he thought he was. That could lead to some interesting stories. While the ramblings of a killer who just got arrested can easily be disregarded, keep in mind that Dexter has the hammer Trinity used in that one murder...
