I have to believe it'll be Deb, since she's already getting close to Dexter's past. I think she'll decide to go back and investigate the last person on her list (Moser) and find that the records are no longer available and realize that Dexter had them last. She'll probably find the half-shredded picture in Dexter's desk as well. I hope it goes this way, otherwise Deb's whole investigation would've been a totally useless storyline (much like last year with Quinn's Internal Affairs investigation).

Perhaps they ripped the idea from a similar event last year in daytona beach (looking for a serial killer no less)

I was thinking that trinity's son takes out the car and goes through one of the checkpoints and gets swabbed and they get a hit on the dna samples they have from the ash or blood ( whatever they have DNA from )

There was that episode where Dexter saved the smuggled immigrants from a trailer where a "coyote" had locked them up. This phenomenon is Southwestern. I don't believe they're called coyotes in Miami and generally Cuban immigrants aren't illegal, they're granted asylum upon reaching American soil and of course, they come in boats or rafts, not trucks.
Recently Deb walked up to a Cuban food stand and ordered some tacos. I laughed my ass off.
More recently, Batista got all excited about sharing some Cuervo tequila with Laguerta. While I'm sure there are plenty of Cubans who drink tequila... really, if they wanted to be authentic, Cubans are nuts over rum. Specifically Bacardi.
There's also the sight of rich white people with Cuban maids. Again, this is a Los Angeles phenomenon where the rich white TV people have Mexican maids. In Miami, the rich person is actually more than likely to be Cuban or South American than white. Many rich Venezuelans have resettled in Miami recently to get away from Fidel Jr. The people in positions of power in Miami tend to be Cuban or other Hispanic, but you don't really see that a lot in TV and film as Hollywood writers have the L.A./Mexican model in their heads, and place them as the maids or scared illegals.
I really like that idea and would definitely be in for that. That would take some balls to kill off the title character and have another season. Some BIG balls. The problem with that scenario is that I don't think the supporting characters are strong enough to carry an entire season.
