I doubt any of us realized. We've barely heard her speak a full sentence before this episode.

I remember her stuttering in the pilot but it kinda came and went. Now we know why.

I can recall her stuttering numerous times since the pilot. I always thought it seemed overly forced and exaggerated. I figured it was the fault of the actress. I guess not ... or at least not completely.

I'm 99% sure she stuttered in this episode, in addition to a number of other episodes.

Re: Glee -- "Wheels" -- 11/11/09

This whole disabled thing really pisses me off. Especially when it's disabled actors that are doing the whining. They, more than anyone, should realize that casting is a meticulous process, and you have to find just the right person to fit the role, and if that means hiring someone who happens to be able-bodied to act handicapped, then so be it. It's not like it's not a common occurance.

Is Artie really handicapped? I believe he is, especially after this episode. He's become too likable of a character, and they would have nothing to gain by having it be fake. It would be the most hypocritical thing ever from a TV character to have him walking after the way he reacted to Tina's secret. They haven't even done anything at all up to now to even suggest that Artie isn't really handicapped.

To the handicapped people or anyone else who has a problem with Kevin in this role, I say too bad. Casting a handicapped person in a handicapped role just for the sake of the infirmity would be defeating the entire purpose of casting. What would be next? They're casting for a blonde girl, and give it to a brunette, causing an uprising of blondes worldwide? Someone who doesn't really wear glasses wears them for a role, and causes a riot of optometrists? It's been done for years and years: people play roles, and sometimes that means playing something you're not, whether it's a handicap, race or gender. Be it TV, film or stage, it's all about acting, and they gotta cast the right person to act the part. Get over it.

Exactly. That has been my beef with the character since I've seen her. They don't give her any lines. She had a small spotlight when she was chosen to sing the lead over Rachel but after a few notes, she hit one bad note and stuttered her way out of the scene. I've heard the actress in interviews and she is very articulate. It's nice for Asians to be seen but they should also be heard.

That may be why they decided to change it to no stutter.

Oh wow! I didn't know the guy from the show "Brothers" was really in a wheelchair! I remember him from "Galaxy Quest" which was apparently before he was injured in a motorcycle accident.

Dianna (Quinn) looked amazing in the food fight scene. Anyone have a screencap of her smiling from that scene?

BTW, the cast of Glee will be on the Tyra Banks Show tomorrow (11/13).

Jane is really such a great actress, not only her softer side in this episode but also the dance rejection from the newscaster smhuck - her character is alot more than what her surface appears

also, who is the actor that plays Kurt's dad - he's really good in his role too.

I balked at the "penis" line from Artie.

well as I noted in a past thread - the actress that plays Rachel does look and sort of sound like Idina Menzel (if you don't know that name and how that relates to Wicked - you should be shot )

question though: how is the song on the soundtrack different? Is it both of them, or one of them, I'd love to see the outtakes of that, if both actors had to sing the song in it's entirety, guess we might have to see if this extra might wind up on the DVD.

Mike O'Malley. He played Jimmy in "Yes, Dear". I think he also wore the same hat.

The song on the soundtrack cd is a duet between the two of them. Once you've listened to the cd a few times, then watch the episode, you can hear the recording differences. On the cd, Rachel takes the first verse, Kurt takes the second, and they sing in duet for the chorus and in several points along the way to the end. In the show, Kurt sings the first verse, then the second, and you can hear the difference in the separate recordings.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Wicked and “Defying Gravity”:

One of the iconic scenes in modern theater.

I really liked the Sue bit, but found the rest of this episode kind of boring. Still love the show though!

Lea sang the song better than the performance in the clip.

itunes released a duet version of the song, and then both lea and chris each have solo versions that are available to download. so they probably just had both sing their solo versions and edited them together for the show.

solo versions back to back:
