Synopsis:

In the season finale of White Collar, Neal and Peter race to find a treasure hidden beneath New York City before it falls into the wrong hands.

Wow, no chatter? Helluva cliffhanger if the show doesn't get renewed. If it continues you could probably swing a single WC season thread... or by the looks of this one, no thread.

I for one loved this season, best one of recent memory. Rebecca was an excellent foil for Neal. It was also the first time in awhile that I felt the balance between 'criminal' Neal and 'criminal informant' Neal was perfectly balanced. I hate the back and forth, is he good or is he bad nonsense, so having him manipulated all season was a way to keep it fresh.

I also thought the balance of characters was excellent. We got lots of Mozz and less of Mrs Suit. The only downside was missing Diana for most of the season. Oh and Neal's new handler biting it after such a short period was kinda silly with the way they tried to make it mean something to the team.

Yeah I thought it was a good finale and an interesting cliffhanger.

Regarding the lack of chatter.....I admit, I was behind most of the season, but I think if this show were on during the summer instead of Fall/Winter, it would probably get watched sooner. USA shows don't seem to generate much chatter when they face Fall shows. I guess they just aren't must see, water cooler shows.

No way this gets cancelled. I think USA will give this at least 1 more 13 episode season. You can't end this show with Neal getting kidnapped and no resolution to it.

Bridget Regan's character was a very cool addition and a good foil for Neal.

I do agree the plot with Neal's new handler was poorly handled.


According to this article one of the Producers of WC, Nick Thiel, says they are still waiting to hear from USA about season 6.

It thought the season as a whole was probably the strongest one they've done. And I agree, Bridget Regan (especially the red headed version (drool)) was a great addition to the show. If it does come back I'd love to see her added to the cast. Neal's new handler....I don't even remember him getting killed. There were a couple times where my DVR cut out the last minute or so...did it happen at the end of an episode?

But alas, I don't think things are looking good for a renewal. They should've been shooting by now for a summer or early fall launch. But even if it doesn't Matt Bomer is gonna land somewhere in a starring role I'm sure.

Hopefully Psych ending makes a White Collar renewal a possibility.

Psych is ending? Sigh, I missed that. USA seems to be on an HBO like cancellation streak as of late.

Anytime a show goes beyond 5 seasons, especially on cable, it gets really expensive to make. Actors contracts are a huge factor.

I'm fairly certain that USA will give White Collar a 13 episode final season. It wouldn't launch until this Fall though. The creator of the show has another show on USA called Graceland, which should be filming right now, and took it's place in the summer.

Yeah, don't follow the Psych thread. I'm good with it ending though, it has been a solid run. Here's to hoping we get that final season.

I stopped watching White Collar about a season ago. The show was afraid to break its formula and the writing became very pedestrian.

I felt the exact same but stuck with it. You bailed too soon. As posted above, this might possibly be WC's strongest season yet.

White Collar's renewal is in limbo.

USA and FOX are still negotiating on a final season. However, due to the delay, the show lost it's entire writing staff and New York crew to other projects. The soonest they could start filming would be April. Not surprised. The writers and production crew are all freelance, so they can't sit around and wait and not get paid.

As mentioned in previous threads, costs go up...a lot after 5 seasons. USA would be responsible for all production costs. However, according to the article FOX is willing to compromise and pay some of the costs and lower the licensing fee.

Ugh. Figured as much. We do need a send off season though. Even if its short.

Didn't realize things were so dire for this show. Quite a shame. I love it a great deal.

Are the seasons available on BD or is this one of the many shows banished to DVD?

I'm pretty sure it's only on DVD for the time being.

They released season 1 on BD, but sales weren't good enough, so only DVD releases were made afterwards.

Yup, same here. The whole Neal-Peter dynamic got real old to me. That said, I'd watch a final season just to see how they'd wrap things up.

I'd likely come back for an ending too. I dropped a few episodes in this season as I got tired of them looking for *really thin* ways to ignore Peter and Neil's friendship at this point and turn them back into distrusting enemies.
