Spoiler:

Heard that Jen bites it tonight, and Eli is the winner. Looks like he's shaping up to be the wild card. don't know for sure though, but my source gave me the last 3 elimination challenge results

AMEN! she couldn't wait 5 minutes to get her spatula? They tried to paint her as a "everyone's picking on me" person, but it was obvious that she was often the catalyst in every argument she was involved in.

That would be unfortunate, but I also agree with the previous comment.

I'm so frickin' sick of Michael V.'s ego, deadpan voice, and personality of a slug.

I was surprised that Eli got sent home. It seemed like they all disliked Michael's dish more.

For all Michael's trash talking this whole season, it would have been great to see him go home.

Michael would have had to completely blow it to go home tonight. They set up the comments to send home who they wanted to send home, though truthfully it's hard to argue that Eli is better than any of the top four.

While I prefer Jennifer to win, I would be happy with Brian (I like how serious he is about it w/o being a prick like his brother) and Ok with Kevin (it's obvious he's a good chef, but I would be too worried about the food stuck in his beard dropping in my food).

Michael may be the most talented, but he's clearly the biggest ass.

Kevin for the Bocuse d'Or - that's a massive honour.

The final 4 are as predicted the absolute standouts of the season..

Love this season they have 4 rockstars in the final

Don't care who wins - but I'd lean to Kevin

Reading Tom's Blog looks like Kev has the right to compete for the bocuse, but not certain to be a US rep

But like previous seasons, the most brilliant chef usually loses. It's usually the one that's the most well-rounded that wins. My money is on either Bryan or Kevin. You really have to appreciate their humility. Bryan was not bitter at all that Kevin took home the win, esp. after Bryan helped him with Sous-Vide. Then again... telling someone how to do it, and them actually executing it is two different things.

Season 5, it was obvious that Stefan's overconfidence was going to get him into trouble, and his stupidly hackneyed dishes are what lost him the title. That and that atrocious dessert. Anyone could have made that shit.

Season 4, I felt really cheated. It should have been Richard, Stephanie, Antonia, and Dale in the final four. Lisa being there was just because someone else always screwed up worse than she did. She kept making elementary errors, and that really killed her in the finale; she didn't even know how to cook kobe beef properly. She definitely couldn't cook on the level of the other chefs.

Season 3, I think almost everyone can agree right off the bat that Hung was the winner from day 1. Tre's departure was very similar to Dale's - and one that I think was wrong.

Season 2, I actually thought the final four was appropriate, but I hated that season as a whole, and I hated that finale.

Interesting thing about Season 1, they shot the reunion episode after the finale, so they pretty much already knew who won. Which really makes Dave heckling Tiffany seem all that more petty and immature; I mean christ, HE ALREADY KNEW SHE LOST and he still wouldn't leave her alone.

The judges never seen phased by bones in food. Perhaps if they choked on one they would.

Could you imagine the skewering that Robin would have taken if she was still around for this challenge?!

Re: Top Chef Vegas - starts 19 Aug

don't think the silvestri blog is up for last night's episode yet, but his review of last week was amazing:

http://eater.com/archives/2009/11/12...-out-of-me.php

some highlights for me:

The chefs get a call on the ol' kitchen phone. It's Padma, and she wants some room service. Everyone needs to prepare her and Nigella Lawson, the gorgeous British cookbook author, television host and billionaire's wife, breakfast in bed. Bed? They are in bed together? And in robes? Keep it together, Silvestri. I am already missing Mike Isabella. He would have been smiling so widely and elevator eyeing and raising his eyebrows so fast the top of his head would have fallen off. I'm sure he's at home watching this episode "with his yogurts and stuff." He would have served them a video camera with a fried egg on top. "This dish is a play on recording you. The best way to eat it is to have the fried egg first, and then just leave the camera on the sink across from the shower. The red light means it's turned off."
Eli wins [the quickfire]. His prize is to be the only recipe from this season included in the new Top Chef Quickfire cookbook. That is a nice honor, but also who would want to buy that book? Quickfire dishes are by definition rushed and unplanned and made with ridiculous restrictions. "I can't wait to get cooking with Alexia Crunch Snacks and Swanson Low-Sodium Cod Broth and without using anything brown!"
Bryan conveniently finds a note on sustainable fishing in the Shark Aquarium at the Mandalay Bay, handing him his inspiration. He also buys a small plush toy for his son, who will surely appreciate it. I wonder if his son is a tiny robot version of his robot dad. "Thank you, father, for this toy, with which I will commence playing immediately. May I excuse myself to the designated joy area?"

Eli's not far behind in terms of pomposity. Just look at how he walks. He thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.

I was thinking the same thing. She most likely would have had a complete meltdown in the kitchen and ended up rocking back 'n forth in the corner mumbling to herself.

I was pretty surprised Kevin won last night. I don't remember the judges praising his dish very much. All I heard was "too simple", "played it safe", "what did he do with his time?" etc. So when they said he won, it seemed to come out of nowhere. Must have been bad editing of the judges comments.

It seemed pretty straight forward to me. Basically, he was the one who fucked up the least. He didn't wow them with technique, but all the others had at least one big misstep.

Really? it seemed like the understood the challenge and knew that he couldn't do something amazing with 4 hours, so he kept it really simple.

and no one really can win by "default". There have been past seasons where everyone was on the bottom.
