Yeah, Nick is pretty spot on with it since we were talking about it last week before he posted (and all the other bloggers caught wind of it) it up on his site. Funny to read Ausiello call Nick out on his blog when I and a handful of others knew about it late last week and was just waiting for him to post up the original article.

Wow, excellent read. Sounds like Kring is a control freak. Someone who is higher on the totem pole than he should be.

Re: Bryan Fuller leaves HEROES ...again

Not so great a read in my opinion. It doesn't seem like the 2 writers were any kind of "geniuses" who were stamped down by Kring. Lost is absolutely NOT a character driven show, so citing it as an example of good character work doesn't help the blogger.

Just seems like more speculation to me than any basis in inside knowledge. Personally, I think more than Kring was the problem with this show.

Regarding Jeph Loeb... I think the guy is just burned out. All of his comic work as of late is pure shit. He needs to take time off and deal with his personal issues.

Pick up a copy of "Ultimates 3" or "Ultimatum" for proof that Jeph Loeb really shouldn't be anywhere near superheroes anymore.

I don't agree with all the points in that blog, but pointing the blame squarely at Tim Kring seems to gel everything I've read elsewhere.

It's just fundamentally poor storytelling. Hardly anyone does anything of any significance, the show's eager to mash the reset button whenever it writes itself into a corner, inconsistent characterization bending to the will of the Plot-of-the-Week, suffering through stagnant pacing and then rushing to wrap things up in the last episode or two of each volume... There's just no sense of direction.

Them dumping Kring is the only thing that could have saved this show.

Oh I agree, he was fine in S1 but knowing how stupid his character became in S2/3 he'd be better off gone

Nice read. I sure agree that Kring certainly is partly responsible for the constant resets and poorly written stories. I'd fire him on the spot. But now that pretty much everyone is gone, how can this be salvaged?

I think the answer is it can't. I watch it (live) every week and while I will still tune in no matter who stupid the characters get or the reset button is pushed...its starting to get on my nerves. My favorite characters are now jokes. Such a disappointment. Luckily, if you watch via DVD/Blu, the season won't be as bad.

Yeah I watch it live too. I did like some of the "free for all" of S3, like the beginning with Angela lying to Sylar being her son and being good. I think that was volume 3. The last volume just felt like no one had a clue where to go. Meh. I think I'll start watching season 4 but I don't know if I'll last long.

Re: Bryan Fuller leaves HEROES ...again

Maybe I'll buy S1 on BR one day and rewatch, but otherwise I doubt I'll ever revisit this show. I struggled through S2 (which did pick up a little at the end) and then came back for season 3. I think I gave up around 4 epsiodes in figuring I'd catch up. Now obviously I have now desire or reason to catch up let alone watch anything new.

P.S. - If you want a show with strong characters that is dramatic, funny, romantic and action packed watch Chuck. Season One Streaming: http://www.thewb.com/shows/chuck
