Late Night Talk Show Battle
With all the talk about the late night shows and all the changes happening, I thought it would be interesting to see where DVD Talk stood on the issue. Who would you choose to watch on a given night if you had to choose one?
I chose Kimmel, although I rarely watch any. He is just much smoother in interviews and seems much more down to Earth and personable. He has some great musical guests and they're always live on the outdoor stage. It's feels like you're getting to see a concert for free. And his "Unnecessary Censorship" bits are fucking hilarious.
When I was younger it would have been between Conan and Letterman. Conan in college and Letterman the rest of the years.

Conan for me by a long shot. I like his style of interviewing and also just find him to be the funniest overall. Another reason I like Conan a lot is that he seems to have the most energy of any of the hosts. I mean he's obviously younger than Letterman or Leno but to me it feels like he's into what he's doing whereas sometimes the others just seem like they're going through the motions. I like Letterman too but now that its between the two I find myself watching Letterman less and less. I didn't mind Leno and might watch his new show but to be honest I didn't find all that funny sometimes and a lot of the time I felt like I was just watching his show waiting for Late Night to start. The others I don't watch really other than Ferguson here and there. Never have really liked Jimmy Kimmel very much and I don't hate Carson Daly as much as a lot of people do but I wouldn't stay up to watch him necessarily, but I did watch him on occasion after Late Night.

LOL...if that were the case I would have left off Carson Daly as well. I'll ask a mod to add Fallon.
edit...how should I go about asking a mod? Do I just click on "report post"?
Thanks Jadzia

If I got to choose two, it would be Conan and Ferguson. I'd watch Ferguson more often. With a choice of just one, I go with the steadier Conan because I know better what to expect. Letterman would be second choice with Ferguson third.

I don't watch any of them regularly, too late for me.
However, Conan is the funniest.
Letterman used to be funny, once upon a time.
Leno is bland.
Never really watched Ferguson.
Jimmy Kimmel, Carson Daly, & Jimmy Fallon are all terrible.

I like almost all of them but Conan is my favourite... I actually really like Craig Ferguson but hardly ever watch because he's the only one currently not in HD - I know that's a lame reason but it's true.... however in all honesty right now my actual favourite is probably Chelsea Handler. I love that bitch.

Fallon and Daly are tools.
Leno just isn't funny.
Letterman in a jackass.
I like Kimmel and Ferguson but I never watch their shows.
Conan is the man.

I like Conan, but not enough to go out of way to watch.
Ferguson is my current favorite. Don't watch late night often, but always enjoy his show when I stumble upon it.

Furguson is the funniest man on late night.
Never in my life have I been compelled to watch a late night show. With an 11:30 bed time and Craig on at 12:30, I Tivo him every night and watch it the following night.
I haven't enjoyed puppets since I was a child watching The Muppets.
His 2 minute openings are GOLD 90% of the time.
Lip Synching can be funny? It is now.

I will go with Letterman, although he has gotten angry in the past few years.
I will never understand the love for Conan. Conan shows has great bits, as you can see his roots in writing. But he just isn't funny to me at all, and the more he tries to be funny, the more I want to turn him off. Conan, you don't have to act like an idiot to get a laugh every show!!!!
I say have Leno do the monologue/Conan do the writing, and Letterman interview the guests, and thats a Late Night show

Re: Late Night Talk Show Battle
Conan, with Craig in a close second. Craig might actually be funnier since he doesn't have the decades of used gags that weigh down Conan and Letterman. He kind of has the best of everything that makes Conan and Dave good: Conan/Dave's weirdness, Conan's enthusiasm for some interviews (though Craig seems to care about them all), Dave's moments of unironic sincerity. And he doesn't milk monologues for more than they're worth like Conan's flailing. Actually, I was as happy for Craig as I was for Conan when Conan got the promotion, because it lets Craig's star rise and I never have to choose between them again. But I still prefer Conan for his remotes and his other bits.

Probably Conan first, then Craig. Leno would be my absolute last choice, I'd even take Carson Daly over him.
When it comes down to it, the only ones I actually watch regularly are The Daily Show and Colbert Report. They'd have my vote if they were on the list.
