I am upset too. I thought the Unit was a tense and exciting show, one of the best series on TV. When it began, I thought it was a pale imitation of "E-Ring," which also was cancelled way too early. But I really grew to like it. I certainly hope Dennis Haysbert is no stranger to TV.

I only watched the first season of the series but did they finally stop making half the shows focus on the stupid wives? That's the part that bored me the most.

Yeah they focused alot more on the missions and the wives were dropped to a much smaller part of the show.
I still can't believe that the average age who watched this show was 55. Even though it got pretty decent ratings, that's pretty much the reason why it was dropped.
The wives weren't horrible by any means. Tiffy became more likeable after season 1. Kim wasn't as annoying. But, couldn't stand Molly.
I'm surprised that adding a hot young 20-something actress like Nicole Steinwedell didn't attract more younger male viewers, even though she wasn't in every episode.

This is disappointing, but not unsurprising. I missed 3-4 episodes because of sports(I presume). The tivo ended up recording Cold Case, or whatever hell show is on before it. So it was to a point where I personally didn't care. If I catch it, great, if not, oh well.
When I left off the new guy had proven himself and I watch the first uninterrupted one last night and
Okay... I actually watched two episodes and Charles "Betty Blue" Grey was nowhere to be seen. Did I miss something big?

cough... potential spoilers for those buying the dvds and not watching them...
Yep, which was worse than sleeping with Ryan. One of the episodes I caught up on last night had her 14 y.o. daughter hooking up with a 21 year old dude.
Then the poisoned school incident earlier in the year and the sexual harassment thing with a student, oh and then she worked at a strip club for a brief period and got attacked (of course). Ugh... I don't think there is a single storyline of hers that was decent in the show's four year run.

To all those, from the crew, to the actors, directors, and writers, that produced this gem of a show we humbly salute you...

And to those dirty bastards at CBS that in their infinite "wisdom" decided to cancel this show we salute you as well...

This is terrible news. This was one of the shows that I looked forward to each week. It was pretty much the only thing worth watching on Sunday nights. The show pulls in close to 10 million viewers on a Sunday night, and that isnt enough for CBS?

That's the reason why it got the axe.

Sounds like it was more an issue of the marketing department not wanting to go out and get a new class of sponsors than anything else. 55 year olds buy stuff too, and probably have more money to buy some of the more luxury items as well. I rack it up to laziness and trying to fit a square peg into the established round hole

Well, I wasn't a fan of the wives' plots either... but I liked that they were there. It kept the show grounded, and prevented them from turning the Army guys into cartoon figures (e.g. Jack Bauer). It was nice knowing that yes, the guys kicked ass, but at the end of the day they went home to their wives and children, and all the baggage that comes with that.

Unfortunately, we don't have a MyNetworkTV affiliate in Boise, so we'll still be Unit-deprived here, even if it does get picked up.

there's an easy way to save money here. cut the wives storylines, maybe except for a few cameos, and focus strictly on the Unit.

Even now you can view almost any show whether you have a local affiliate for that show's network or not (either through an official or "unofficial" website). I don't have a local MyNetworkTV affiliate either but if the The Unit is picked up, I can assure you that I will see each and every new episode.

Finally caught the finale. It was a pretty solid episode to go out on. Even if you don't agree with the cliffhanger, it seems appropriate and realistic that

Even after everything that happened to their daughter? Also seeing what happened to Kim and her kids this year was probably a deciding factor as well. Not to mention being kidnapped and threatened herself a few episodes prior. It's one thing to stick by your soldier, but another thing when your life is in constant risk. Seemed like a long time coming and I thought it worked.

I think that the days of television networks will soon be a thing of the past. Program producers will bypass the networks (and regulators) entirely and go directly to the public using the internet.
Even now you can view almost any show whether you have a local affiliate for that show's network or not (either through an official or "unofficial" website). I don't have a local MyNetworkTV affiliate either but if the The Unit is picked up, I can assure you that I will see each and every new episode.

However, I don't know whether the current state of affairs on the Internet make a good case for the future or not. For example, with a good DVR, I can record an episode of any OTA broadcast, and watch it later, sometimes MUCH later. Many online sites only cache the last 4 or 5 episodes of any given show. Yes, there are exceptions, but it seems obvious to me that at the very least, the entire current season of every show should be available for viewing.
There are some shows we like to watch, but don't have time to get to until later, when we will watch them in "marathon" form. When every show is available on the Internet to allow for such viewing options, then it might become my primary source. Until then, I'll take the flexibility of OTA and a DVR.
