Re: Rules of Engagement

Well, they wrapped things up in a pretty little bow with this finale.

Everybody got married. Ed Begley Jr. guest starred in his second series finale in less than a week. Sara Rue finally gave birth after 3 seasons (and for the second time this TV season).

I'm glad the producers saw the writing on the wall and gave the show a proper sendoff.

Re: Rules of Engagement

I like how they wrapped everybody up, but Russel and Timmy getting married was a real WTF moment.

Made even more WTF because a few days later, I saw a re-run where Timmy flat out says he's a U.S. citizen. Kind of sloppy continuity for a show that had pretty good continuity.

Yeah, the citizenship bit was just tacked on to give them something to do for the finale. pretty weak.

And I know King of Queens did the same routine for the series finale with them adopting a baby and finding out the same day that they're having their own.

I think they were just going for the magical 100 episodes that guarantees syndication for the next decade. I enjoyed the series, but it had pretty much run its course. Both Spade and Warburton play essentially the same characters on every show they are on and I'm sure they will get more work. I hope the other cast members do too.

Re: Rules of Engagement

I think the show has run it's course. the last episode was actually pretty naff

David Spade has definitely been very lucky. He was great on Just Shoot me, was ok in this

Interested to see what the actor who played Timmy will do next

Didn't the same thing happen to Ted Baxter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show too?

I just hope Sony will actually press the last three seasons and offer a complete series box. I stopped buying the series when it went MOD.

It wasn't in the series finale, but basically yes. Ted and Georgette adopted show-killer cousin Oliver from The Brady Bunch, and then later Georgette had a biological girl (gave birth in Mary's bedroom, as I recall.)

Back on topic, I can't believe this show stayed on so long. Every time I thought it must have been cancelled, it would pop back up. And though I would try not to waste too much time on it, dammit, I laughed every time I watched. The addition of the Timmy character was an improvement, but his marriage at the end was stunningly stupid. For one thing, it will never hold up in Immigration Court.
