Merlin -- The 4th Season Thread -- Premieres 1/06/12 (SyFy)

By djariya at 2012-01-06
The fourth season finds Camelot on the brink of a Golden Age of magic, mystery and action-adventure. With Morgana now a dangerous outcast, Merlin must use all his powers to ensure Arthur fulfills his destiny as the Once and Future King. Colin Morgan returns as Merlin alongside Bradley James as Prince Arthur, Angel Coulby as Gwen and Katie McGrath as Morgana. Anthony Head reprises his role as King Uther and Richard Wilson as Gaius. The show is produced and created by the award winning team at Shine TV. FME holds the exclusive distribution, home entertainment and licensing rights to Merlin (known as The Adventures of Merlin in the rest of the world outside the US and UK) and has sold the series to over 52 broadcasters in more than 180 countries including Network Ten in Australia, MICO in Japan and RTL in Germany.
And please, if you have seen the airings from England, don't talk about future episodes until they have aired here as a courtesy to those who are watching tonight and in future weeks.

Thanks for the HU. My Tivo didn't catch it.
Looks like tonight's episode is the first of a 2 parter? Tivo didn't catch next week's episode either.

You will need to set your DVRs to record the repeats.

Started watching this show last season and I really like it. I need to catch up with the 1st 2 seasons one day.
I see this season is being released on blu ray next week on amazon.uk. Aren't those region free since it's HD broadcast? I could buy that and save my DVR some much needed space?
Nevermind, it says region 2.

I was taping this as just a show to watch when I had nothing else to do. Since the DIRECTV guide has been listing this show as repeats, I haven't taped it since the beginning of last season. Since I do not want to weed through the repeats, I guess this show should be removed from my queue.

Didn't care for how the veil was healed. Thought Morgana's new ally was revealed a little too quick in the Season. I would have preferred for them to have remained a mystery a little longer. Uther's role was quite disappointing and puzzling, as if he was under a spell.
Also, I've never like Coulby as Gwen. The character doesn't fit what we know of the story.

Following the BBCA premieres of all 13 episodes from S1 and the S2 premiere this weekend, BBCA will continue airing "new to BBCA" episodes of Merlin on Saturday nights at 9pm and 10pm, at least according to the schedule on their website, which only goes two weeks into the future:
Sat. 6/16 - Episodes 2-2 (9pm) and 2-3 (10pm)
Sat. 6/23 - Episodes 2-4 (9pm) and 2-5 (10pm)
Based on this pattern, the last two episodes of S2 will air on July 21. With little UK sci-fi on the horizon (no Doctor Who until the fall), BBCA could easily air S3 and S4 starting July 28, with 2 episodes every Saturday night until Doctor Who returns.

Friday night's episode of Merlin is the last one scheduled. It seems an odd time to take a break - episode 8, so 5 to go if it follows the usual number of eps. I hope it's not cancelled.

Thanks. My DVR cut off the ending. It did claim another episode was airing on 3/8, so that's good news. I was also worried about premature cancellation. If indeed this is the last season, I hope we have a big reveal of Merlin's powers to Arthur and Arthur's acceptance of magic before the series ends.

Uh oh, I just noticed that the 3/08 airing of Merlin no longer appears on my DVR. And doing a search on the DVR guide shows no airings in the foreseeable future. Did SyFy cancel this show to put on reruns of that absolutely dreadful Robot Combat League?

I just went to the SyFy site. Looks like the future episodes won't air until May. May 3 is the next one.

I have to admit, I did not see that ending coming. I see now how they were talking about they could bring the cast back in a whole new way and still have this be an actual ending.
Of course, now I want them to adapt the graphic novel Camelot 3000.
