Are you kidding? Heroes is DRAMATICALLY better since the changes were made. You could actually tell which episode the changes started on. It's actually watchable and intriguing again. I had all but given up on Heroes, but now look forward to it once more.

Re: Heroes S4 pulling a Lost - All episodes run straight through, no breaks

I just watched Wolverine yesterday and I know they're a lot of bad reviews for it but, I thought it was pretty good. I wish the Heroes would look at what has made comic book movies so fun the watch and try to emulate it. They need to have characters with cool powers fighting each other and actually doing things. They have to many characters wondering around doing nothing. They waste their sfx budget with characters just showing people their powers. The 4400 was more entertaining than this show and it probably had a much smaller budget. I think they need to stop worrying about creating a large, grand storyline for each volume and just have story arcs that go on in the background like other shows.

Also, budget cuts. 3 Producers have been fired. 1 after the season concluded.

Let's just face it. The average viewer just isn't smart enough to keep up with serialized TV. That's why ratings for most serialized shows are way down.

Has LOST actually accomplished the goal of running a season straight through? They didn't this year...

Nope. Last season (Season 4) was the 1st time they tried starting the season in the Spring and it was interrupted because of the strike. I believe this season has already had 2 breaks.

The only show that has successfully run 20+ weeks non-stop is 24 since they moved to January's for season 4.

Lost does not do runs all the way through. They never have, actually. Last year the writers strike shut them down for several weeks before they aired their final few episodes. This season has already had 2 separate 1-week breaks.

Two reason for the 2 breaks in S4

1. They started the season one week earlier. Not Lost' problem.
2. They chose to show the 2 part finale the same night instead of spread out.

That explains the 2 breaks. Had there not been those above 2 issues it would have been straight through.

They didn't start it until Season 4 (last season) and the reasons for the breaks (Writers Strike etc) have already been mentioned in this thread.

Season 4 was the Alias that aired for the most part in one continuous run. Season 5 had a hiatus halfway trhough due to Garner's pregnancy and cancellation notice. It aired in two separate continuous runs, with a large gap between the two halves.

24 started continuous runs in 2005 with season 4:

South Park started airing their seasons in two separate continuous runs starting with the back-half of Season 4, back in 2000.

Lost also started airing in a (mostly) continuous run with Season 4 in 2008.

Hmmm, something about 4th seasons...

Anyway, Reno 911 aired its first season in a continuous run in 2003.

The point isn't that there's a good explanation for the breaks or whose fault it is. The point is the story says they're going to run Heroes straight through like Lost. But Lost has never run straight through. They should get their facts straight.

Lost intended to but blame ABC. The plan set into motion was 3, 16 episode Seasons all the way through.

Ever since they pulled the plug on Season 2 (after a crappy start at that), the show hasn't been the same. I've tried watching it, but I think this is too little, to late. Not that I have a problem with HD Claire if my DVR has no conflicts.

The article didn't say that Lost runs straight through, The article says that Tim Kring, the producer of Heroes, said that they're modeling after Lost's schedule and will run straight through. They're reporting what the guy said.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

As pointed out, regardless of the reason, Lost has yet to air an uninterrupted season. 24 is the only show to successfully do that. What's even funnier is that Lost is only trying(and failing) with 16 episodes, and 24 has them beat by 8 episodes.

As I pointed out, Reno 911 has aired uninterrupted seasons since their first. The Sopranos ran in uninterrupted seasons starting in 1999.

There's probably a number of other HBO and other cable channel shows that have done continuous season runs as well.

Exactly. Stargate has done it for a while now too. It's just a different ballgame when it comes to cable shows.

I can't find a single season of either SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis that ran uninterrupted:

You didn't specify that you were referring to only Network TV shows.

However, if you want to limit it to Network shows, The Winner ran in a uninterrupted season:

Same with Andy Barker, P.I.:

Re: Heroes S4 pulling a Lost - All episodes run straight through, no breaks

SG-1 and Atlantis usually ran their seasons in 10 episode blocks and even then they still had 1 or 2 2 week breaks.

So your response is two shows that were canceled after a few episodes?

Girls Club ran 2 episodes - right through - on Fox.

Girls Club didn't air all the ordered and produced episodes, so that was a (permanently) interrupted season. Both shows I listed were ordered and produced for a limited run, which they completed. They just didn't get picked up for a second season.

The Office US had only a 6 episode first season as well.
