Adam's performance was good and interesting, but he shrieked so much at the end there that even I (and I really do like him), had to start laughing. I enjoyed his performance, but Steppenwolf sang it better, without all that shrieking nonsense.

Re: American Idol, Top 7, April 14/15 -- Songs from the Movies

Anoop had the most emotionally connected performance, with on point vocals. His R&B spin actually worked for the song because he didn't resort to runs, but rather solid notes that bolstered the romantic resonance inherent in the song's melody.

Adam was born to put on concerts. I'm not sure how his studio vocals will translate to radio play, but he's consistently entertaining, or poignantly restrained when he puts his miind to it. Everytime he's on stage, there's a higher level of anticipation and he hasn't disappointed the audience so far.

Matt picks wrong songs and his performance tonight ended up grating on my nerves.

Allison's rendition sounded odd, and not in a good way. She needed to just sing the hell out of that song, and not try to change it up because she sucked a lot of the emotional content from it with her take on the song. She's probably in trouble with the voters since she sang in the first spot, too.

Danny's range was not up to the challenge with his song choice, so singing in a lower key robs the song of its tenderness and intimacy.

Lil's flip to gospel on her song just butchered the song where it also lost its emotional impact and turned it into something it's not, which was in the vein of trying to be an uplifting song.

Kris sang a song I liked, but his performance wasn't anywhere near Glen Hansard's, so he should have sang a different song as he came across a little too faux sensitive since the performance wasn't up to snuff.

Simon loves to use the words Theme park and that is exactly how I feel about Adam's performances when he glams them up.

Kris gave a very beautiful and heart felt rendition. He and Anoop were the best tonight. The two judge format screwed the contestants who didn't get a Simon critique. Stop with the banter and judges intro, etc and get everyone's critiques or get rid of Kara. Why bother working hard if this BS is pulled.

I'm going to predict that the judges will use their save this week, I think Anoop did well enough to not be the bottom person.

Overall, I liked Allison's and Danny's performances the best.

I think the save will only be used if Allison is the one going home.

(assuming favorites Adam and Danny aren't shocking boot)

DialIdol results so far:

Spoiler:

Danny Gokey
Lil Rounds
Adam Lambert
Anoop Desai

Bottom 3:
Allison Iraheta
Matt Giraud
Kris Allen

I dont know HOW Lil is ranked second and ahead of Adam. I guess her fans are rallying.

Dialidol prediction discussion:

Spoiler:
Sympathy vote? Plus, Adam really didn't do well last night. And I think that one of the two bottom dialidol people will go home without the benefit of a save. The judges would use their save for Allison Iraheta, Gokey, or Lambert (as mentioned above), nobody else.

And Tarantino was right about Anoop, if he “dirties” the song up a little, uses a more gravelly voice, he sounds really good. My issue with Anoop is that he’s too smooth – it’s like listening to a lounge singer rather than a concert singer.

Allison, Danny, and Lil should have rotated songs, IMO. Allison with "The Rose", Danny taking on Armageddon, and Lil with "Endless Love"... sure they would be the more predictable choices but I think all three would have turned in better performances.

Lil Rounds was the absolute worst (how can you mess up singing an easy song like The Rose? Well, Lil can!), however, I think Matt will be the one going home and they will not save him.

I would tend to agree, but it wasn't as good as either one.

I just can't get into Adam and his whole screaming thing. Maybe if he knew a little bit better when to bust it out, but instead, I just feel like each of his performances seems silly and overly contrived. I know he's hugely popular right now, but I just don't see it. I think Adam is the rock version of Taylor Hicks.

Well, Taylor Hicks has been playing "Teen Angel" on Broadway and in the touring company of Grease - so your comment is probably spot on! I could definitely see a future for Adam in the theatre.

Truthfully, that's the only way I'd ever see myself owning a recording with his voice on it!

They still didn't finish on time! Isn't practically everything pre-timed except for judges' and Ryan's comments? You'd think they could figure that out.

Lil was terrible and needs to leave.

I've never really heard Miley Cyrus before. Wow, does she suck hard.

And FYI- I love trying to spot all the bars references in those AT&T commercials.

I'm willing to bet EVERYTHING is timed out in a rundown. Seacrest just can't keep the show moving.

Re: American Idol, Top 7, April 14/15 -- Songs from the Movies

Extremely happy that Allison wasn't in the bottom three.

I'm really surprised Lil didn't get the least amount of votes and I am even more surprised they used the save on Matt. I honestly figured we'd have a week where Allison was the lowest vote-getter and they used the save on her.

Oh well. I look forward to two people being eliminated next week...Adam and Danny perhaps? That'd be too funny.

If both gals got tossed next week I'd laugh.

Same here but the very questionable use of the save makes me worry for him next week.

Re: American Idol, Top 7, April 14/15 -- Songs from the Movies

Woohoo! I finally picked a week right!

But there will be a suprise exit next week - with two leaving and Matt Giraud safe since his fans will now rally, I can see Danny Gokey or Adam Lambert possibly leaving, though two of the others would be more likely of course.

Re: American Idol, Top 7, April 14/15 -- Songs from the Movies

I'm so glad they saved Matt. I'd love to see Lil go home next week, but am unsure of who I think deserves to join her. Worst case is we get one last performance out of Matt that I'll probably enjoy.

Any chance we can vote Miley Cyrus out next week? She deserves the boot for headbanding during a fairly serious, diva number. You can dress her up...

The group numbers sound so much better when they're perfromed live. I'm happy to have the little off key moments if it means they're actually singing. Thanks to whoever made the decision to change that back.

Didn't see that one coming. I wonder why they used it for Matt. Joking or not, I agreed with what Simon said "not like you would win it"

I imagine next week Lil, Annop, and Matt will lead off the show with Danny/Adam/Allison going last.

Re: American Idol, Top 7, April 14/15 -- Songs from the Movies

I love that Paula is consistent with her craziness. When the crowd started chanting "save save save" Paula decided to join in. I guess she forgot that she was one of the people meant to make that decision.

Then when Simon tells Matt he doesn't have a chance to win, Paula gets angry at him and says "No." Does she forget that she already told Adam and Dead Wife Guy that they would both make the final 2? I guess she doesn't know that only one person wins.
