Dollhouse to be cancelled?
According to the Dr Horrible twitter, which posts news about the cast from Dr Horrible:
It's true. Dollhouse ep 13 isn't going to air. This makes @feliciaday sad. How do you feel? Why don't share those feelings with FOX? I hope it stays. I'm loving it. |
Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
I read about this over at tvbythenumbers.com. It's too early to say that this is definitive (unless there have been further developments that I'm unaware of).

Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
I'm absolutely fine with this. I just hope they save Terminator: TSCC

Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
I was really excited about this show, before it started, but then I read an interview with Whedon where he hated working on TV and this would probably be his last TV show. He was still trying to do his best on this show but he was really hating working on it, or something like that.
I actually recorded the first couple of show, but didn't watched them. And I've read really good things about the show here and in other forums. So I may end up getting the DVD release if the opinions are good. |
Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
I watched the first episode (where the best part was the beginning with Eliza dancing in that tiny dress) and have the rest sitting in my DVR. Does it get any better after ep 1?
|
Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
Much. But it takes a couple episodes.

Still, who didn't see this coming? Of course, the more pertinent question: why do TV executives that greenlight fucking Joss Whedon genre shows expecting them to do huge numbers still have jobs? |

Well to be honest going by the ratings numbers and cost to produce each show... if FOX cancels Dollhouse, they're most certainly also going to cancel Sarah Connor too. So are you still "fine"?

Tahmoh is already cast in another pilot, Riverworld so who knows. |
Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
Prison Break finale airs on May 15 (same date that this Dollhouse episode 13 was suppose to air).
Maybe Prison Break finale is 2 hours? |
Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
Not surprised to hear this at all -- 13th episode will be a hook to buy the DVD.

Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
Cant wait for this to be confirmed so I dont have to watch anymore. I hate when they do this. Just show the damn finale!

Fox (and other networks) take every opportunity to crack into the 18-49 year old male market. It is very tough to get men to watch TV on regular basis. Yes, I am sure there are exceptions (my husband blah blah blah). SciFi is expensive, but will draw an initial crowd. If it doesn't click right away, it never will. Add to that the difficult nature of arc based drama and you have a difficult nut to crack. One year we had Surface, Invasion & Threshold all fail (NBC, ABC & CBS). Whedon is best left to networks like USA, TNT or FX, where 5 million niche viewers is considered a hit. |

Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
It's a Joss Whedon show that's not on the CW/WB/UPN. No surprises there really. Another one bites the dust. LOL.

Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
They should move it to the sci-fi channel. I think it would bring in more viewers.

Re: Dollhouse to be cancelled?
That sucks, if true.

Sure. I'll live either way. Face it, "Dollhouse" wasn't a very good show. Granted it got better, but the premise was thin, and Eliza Dushku has the emotional range of Terri Schiavo on valium.

I disagree. "Dollhouse" started out weak (probably because of the network interference), but has gotten very good. "TTSCC" started out strong but has headed into the shitter this season.

I really wanted Dollhouse to be good, but I couldn't get past the main character's acting in the first episode, or the gritty plot. I'm sorry to see a Joss Wheden show die again, but I think they should have lightened up the show a bit and cast it with a different actress before airing.

With Fox releasing a blockbuster Terminator movie this summer with DVD sales to follow, TTSCC is a perfect marketing combination. They may wait to see if the movie leads more people to the show. Whereas Dollhouse pretty much has its audience now.

Fox cuts short 'Dollhouse' (sort of) Fox has scheduled the season finale of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, but some sharp-eyed fans have noticed that there's something missing: the show's 13th episode. The Dollhouse season finale airs May 8, titled "Omega," and is the show's 12th aired episode. But there's a 13th episode called "Epitaph One," directed by Whedon (the week after the finale Fox will air the Prison Break two-hour series closer). Whedon compatriot Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog) had a role in the unscheduled episode and Twittered: "Man, day getting worse and worse. Found out my Dollhouse ep, #13 isn't gonna air. Only on DVD. Such a great part too. Thx Fox. :( ..." And then later DrHorrible, the account from Whedon's Web show, replied, "It's true. Dollhouse ep 13 isn't going to air. This makes @feliciaday sad. How do you feel? Why don't share those feelings with FOX?" Reps from the 20th Century Fox studio and from the network declined to comment, but there's a few differing perspectives out there as to how to interpret this news. Here's an email for FOX. We might want to start emailing them... [email protected] UPDATE: Producer Tim Minear posting on Whedonesque, says the episode will definitely be on the DVD and confirms Fox's "we're gonna count the scrapped pilot" stance: "Okay. So maybe I can help clarify this somewhat. Because we scrapped the original pilot -- and in fact cannibalized some of its parts for other eps -- we really ended up with 12 episodes. But the studio makes DVD and other deals based on the original 13 number. So we created a standalone kind of coda episode. Which is the mythical new episode 13. The network had already paid for 13 episodes, and this included the one they agreed to let us scrap for parts. It does not include the one we made to bring the number back up to 13 for the studio side and its obligations. We always knew it would be for the DVD for sure, but we also think Fox should air it because it’s awesome |
