Life on Mars -- "Everyone Knows It's Windy" -- 3/25/09

Life on Mars

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Detectives Carling and Skelton are shot by a gang leader. When the shooter is then murdered outside of a bar, evidence points to Sam, who has been working undercover with the gang.

This is episode 16. Next week is the series finale. I unfortunately stopped watching as my DVR was getting way too backed up and something had to go. I will try to pick this show back up once the DVD set comes out in September.

If you are not watching it, why are you starting the thread for it?

And that is quite a spoiler, so avoid if you want to be surprised.

Edit: Just noticed that there has been similar discussion in the feedback forum about thread starting, so I'll stay out of the discussion

Re: Life on Mars -- "Everyone Knows It's Windy" -- 3/25/09

By the time September comes around, I probably won't remember any of these synopsis' that I posted for the show. Oh and I like the show, I just had to drop it because my DVR was getting so cluttered and some of the shows I DVR don't re-air or have DVD releases coming. I'm doing this thread to be nice. And I am looking forward to the DVD release and watching this in 1 big viewing.

Fun episode. I dunno how Sam is still on the force but a fun episode nonetheless.

I'm dying to know how it all ends but I'm still very upset that there's only one episode left. Any word on wether they'll also remake Ashes To Ashes?

This is a series that NBC or Sci-fi could pick up and get some ratings.

I liked this series so much I ordered the original Brit series from Amazon.uk and let me tell you... you owe it to yourself to do the same if you can play region 2 discs.

The BBC series is supposed to get a US release this summer, but who knows if the music will all be intact.

Or blu-ray. The blu-ray is region free. (It seems some can play the extras on their Region A players and some can't. I can. All should be able to play the episodes.)

Are the Blu-Ray menus PAL or NTSC? It's important in my case since my BD player is my PS3.

Hornberger!

Love that Ray!

"Agent Moron, I mean Morgan is tossing Tyler's apartment right now, and he's finding the same thing Mrs. Morgan finds when he drops his pants...nothing big"

Gene explaining Tyler's invisible snore was hillarious.

"You kidding me Kilpatrick, how many times were you gonna toss the garbage in there. What did you think was going on, wacky raccoons?"

"Whoever killed McMannus should get a free weekend in Atlantic City with a seven breasted hooker"

I have no problem with the menus. I have a Samsung BDP 1400. I think I've read of people with PS3s who don't have a problem with them.

Definitely think the series has been stronger as it goes on - which makes it all the more disappointing to know it's over after next week.

Re: Life on Mars -- "Everyone Knows It's Windy" -- 3/25/09

I was catching a "Abre los Ojos" vibe at the end there (or Vanilla Sky). Jump, and you will wake up in your own time.

I'm still trying to figure out how Molly will appear in "real life" next week - as a nurse who has been holding his hand while he's in a coma, as the doctor who has been treating him, or nothing at all - just a figment of his imagination?

And just in case somebody didn't catch the reference, "Everyone Knows it's Windy" is the name of a song from the '60s by The Association. Pretty popular song from the time.

With regard to the DVD set of this series, there is a thread about it here:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/55...29-2009-a.html

$40 MSRP

I won't be buying it - I only buy TV series that I haven't already seen and I've seen all but one or two of these.

I really have to go back and watch the original again after next week. This is a great show, but I really want to see the full two seasons of the BBC version.

Awesome, awesome show. It's sad that next week it ends. No show has captured my attention like this one has in a really long time, if ever.

Re: Life on Mars -- "Everyone Knows It's Windy" -- 3/25/09

I really don't think it's so bad that the show is ending. The feeble ratings for such a good show are sad though.

The British show ran for just 16 episodes (longer than US episodes though, commercial free and almost a full 60 min/episode). But the limited run allowed for not having to pad with half of the episodes hardly advancing the main story line. The British series is near perfect. I wouldn't change anything.

The short run of the US show also lets it wind up without excessive padding just to have enough material. I expect a terrific ending next week which will obviously be much different than the British.

Really like this show. I like the 70s feel and the way Sams modern sensibilities clash with them. Heres hoping for a great ending.

Strange episode. I'm not sure I entirely liked the ending though I definitely will miss this show after next week.

On a side note, Death Wish came out in 1974. Sad to see the show make such an obvious error. Plus, if Sam got sent back in time in Summer/early Autumn 2008 he would know about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
