Re: Party Down -- "Precious Lights Pre-School Auction" -- 4/30/10

I'm still frustrated at the low ratings this show is getting (not sure how it did last week). One of the top comedies currently airing.

I think the main problem is that it airs on Starz.

It was uneven for me but the last shot was great. "You'll never work in this town again!" [stares] "I know..."

That sums up my reaction too. I would rank it as one of the weaker eps overall -- not bad, just less great than usual -- but that last line was definitely the standout.

Starz cancels Party Down after 2 seasons. Not surprising, but it's still sad to see one of the stronger comedies on premium cable go. Rob Thomas reacts.

Starz also canceled Gravity. Eric Schaeffer just can't catch a break (FX canceled Starved after 1 season as well).

74k tuned into the Party Down finale (54k tuned into the Gravity finale).

FX should pick it up and pair it with It's Always Sunny. Not going to happen, but y'know, just saying.

Small numbers there, but I loved the show and cast.

I just finished watching season one and loved it. Jennifer Coolidge was hilarious in the last couple of episodes.

It sucks but it was bound to happen. About two-thirds of the cast were leaving anyway because of other projects including Adam Scott who was the lead.

It had a great 2-year run, though.

I thought Adam Scott was the only one that was confirmed for "other projects"

I thought Season 2 was a bit weak but there were some really great bits and am sad to see it's been canceled.

Fuck that doucehbag. Prepare for Spartacus to get cancelled.

Oh and 74k may have watched the finale live but it was available On Demand for two weeks prior to that. Just sayin'

Ryan Hansen is a regular on NBC's "Friends With Benefits" also. Now, how long that will last, who knows.

Sad that this is being cancelled but shows like Two and a Half Men continue to thrive.

re: Party Down (STARZ)

This is a very sad night. This was one of "my shows." It's not really surprising and I'm glad that at least it ended on a good note.

I love how everything I read regarding this cancellation attributes it's cancellation to the fact that Adam Scott is now on Parks and Recreation (another one of "my shows"). I really doubt his character has more than a few more episodes. That being said, now that Party Down is out I really, really hope the Ben character stays on Parks.

Scott will be a regular cast member on Parks replacing Brendanawicz. Lowe is just a guest star though.

I saw this as a show able to host a revolving door of characters. Sure, some characters would have to remain consistent (Ron and Martin, perhaps), but you could easily rotate the support every few episodes, I'm sure.

I didn't read anything about Adam Scott joining Parks fulltime. All the trades have talked about Rob Lowe joining the cast fulltime after he quit Brothers and Sisters. And yes, the dude who played Mark quit Parks.

From TVFanatic.com;

More recently, it was announced that Lowe will leave Brothers & Sisters this spring and recur on this NBC sitcom. We can also now confirm that Scott has been cast as a new series regular.

re: Party Down (STARZ)

I started watching this based on a friend's recommendation, and I have to admit...I wasn't excited about watching it when he described it to me.

However, I think that after 2-3 episodes, most people would have enjoyed the hell out of this show. I'm really sad that it's canceled. Kyle and Roman's interactions were classic TV, in my opinion.
