I know there are quite a few that frequent the Movie subforum, but for those who don't I am currently running a Favorite Movie Tourney. Is there any interest in seeing the same type of thing in this forum?

How I would run it:
We would decide whether we want do Favorite Show or Favorite Character
Then anybody interested in participating would post their top 10(Order doesn't matter).
Any show or character who appears on more then one list would be eligible for the tourney.
I would then seed out the tourney based on appearances on top 10 lists and we would run a single elimination bracket style tourney using polls on this subforum.

The Top 10 Thread will be open a full week or longer if I am still getting plenty of input.
The matchup polls will be open for 48 hours each with 4-5 matchups in each poll.(I will post a poll in this forum on the off days in the movie tourney and vice versa)


I know this sounds like a lot of work, but I am currently laid off and need something to occupy myself. I love tourneys and brackets so I thought I would see if there is interest here.

I did something like this a couple years ago, and I know others have done so as well. Always interesting to see what people pick and how it works out.

Yeah, it should be interesting if gets off the ground. All in the Family vs Lost would be fun I think....

For those worried about the forum being cluttered, I only ever have one poll going at a time. I might have main result thread going too, but there will only be one active poll.

I think we did a favorite show tourney. If I'm not mistaken, somebody started it and bailed, so I ran it. I think this was last year.

I think characters sounds like the logical next step.

Wasn't the theme something like "Best Cult Show"?

I did well to remember which forum it was in out of the ones I read, much less the concept. I don't object to any premise. My only concern is the amount of participation. If everybody's memory is as short as mine is, it should be fine.

There was a best cult tv show awhile ago. I'm guessing a 'favorite show' tourney will have the same results on this forum.

So lets do this thing? Where ya at Woody? Don't judge the interest of a poll on this, just start a thread for people's top 10 lists and we'll see if a tourney will work.

I'll start making my list now, so it'll be ready by the time you make the thread.

edit...while making a list I realized that there may have to be a separate poll for comedies (1 tourney for comedy/1 for all other shows). It's much easier to throw in a comedy (where you can start with any episode regardless of season) than a drama which requires much more time investment and attention.
