How was the baby born and not kill the mother? Is child Ben part of the DI yet? I hope Locke isn't in the present. That would make me sad not seeing much of him. Ben came to the island 'sometime' during the 70s. I can only image what Sawyer would like to do with him. |

Wonderful ep.
Glad Sawyer finally got a pair of glasses that fit right. ;) |

I think the statue is going to wind up being a cast member, or maybe even Jacob. Odd that they would tease it from behind like that. That's a season six answer though I'll bet. |

And maybe, perhaps, we are actually on the road to receiving a LOT of series answers to our long standing mysteries! At least I hope so! :) |

Wait, how do we know Ben and Locke and the other survivors are in 2008. When was this confirmed?

Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
I could have sworn I saw Sayid on the beach last episode, just before Locke lowered his hood and told them his name.
It's probable that Goodspeed knocked her up on the island, since her husband was killed on the island first, then she ended up with Goodspeed. Unless they took the sub out and got it on. I was glad to see Juliet and Sawyer together. Hopefully he doesn't blow it now that Kate is back. I guess she learned to cook, last time we saw her cooking she burned something in the oven before the book club and then burnt her hand. |

It's confirmed that Locke is there after "the purge" because the Darma station was vacant. I think we're to assume they're in 2008. |

Speaking of the statue. Since when is the Orchid so close to the water?

It looks like it might be the same symbol of the necklace that was being kept by Horace's wife's from her dead husband. They showed it rather prominently in that scene.
My friend came up with an interesting theory that it could also be Horus. He follows all the crazy lost easter eggs and remembered that the symbol for Horus was on the outside of the temple where smokey came from. Egyptian mythology would be an interesting road to go down. Another person watching with us suggested that Richard with the eyeliner reminded her of how they portrayed Egyptian men in movies. A little out there but that's the fun part about coming up with theories about Lost. |
Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
Best Sawyer episode so far. I really hope the writers don't get into this triangle love crap between Kate, Jack, Sawyer and Juliet anymore. I mean Sawyer spent 3 years with Juliet in the island and Jack and Kate was sort of together for 3 years off the island. That should be enough time for them to move on.

Anubis:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...s_standing.svg vs. Horus: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...s_standing.svg They're both holding the ankh, but the head (judging from the pointy ears on the statue) seems to suggest Anubis. |
Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
Found this on another forum...
The four toed foot - it's been baffling me for ages. That was until this morning when I dug a little deeper using some of the great theories already here. I'm strongly leaning toward the fact that the statue is very old, likely from ancient Egyptian times - specifically Tutankhamun (I'll get to why King Tut specifically shortly), and that it's part of a statue of Anubis - for a number of reasons: 1. it's widely discussed that the "smoke monster" has of late perhaps shown signs of being "dog-like" - with ears, snout, teeth - Anubis is typically known as a figure with a human body and the head of a dog (others also believe it could be a jackal, fox, or wolf) 2. Anubis was the Egyptian god that cared for the bodies of the dead - and we can assume that the dead are buried underground, hence the smoke monster appearing from underground, and subsequently scuttling back underground - usually dragging a LOST character with it 3. Inside King Tutankhamun's tomb they found its very own Anubis statue guarding the "treasure room" - with 5 toes on its forefeet, and 4 toes on its hindfeet 4. Anubis was the god of the Underworld - weren't the Swan hatch hieroglyphs translated into the word "Underworld"? 5. The many references to Cerberus - Cerberus is thought to be linked to Anubis and is the 3 headed dog guardian of Hades 6. Charlotte said that "this place is death" - perhaps another reference to an "Underworld" I'm convinced the four toed statue is of Anubis for these very reasons. Thoughts? |
Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
Why did Richard wanted Paul's body for after losing two of his men?
I thought Kate look a little older without the makeup at the end. |
Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
Ive been away from the computer for awhile. Yea I have friends who call me "Dodgeball" because of Peter LaFleur. I was glad to see Sawyer used it as his name. Good episode. I was happy to see Reiko in something.

Great episode. Loved the teaser shot of that damn statue.
So much has happened this season, I'm having a bit of trouble keeping up with all of it. Need to re-watch "Jughead" again.

Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
When we saw Richard in a previous season's episode when they show Ben's backstory, Richard comes from the jungle with long hair and in dirty clothes. This had to have happened before seeing Richard in tonight's episode where he looks like his dapper usual self. What sense could that make?

Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
Ben said Charlotte was born in 1979. How could she have been a kid in the early '70s?

Re: Lost -- "LaFleur" -- 3/4/09
if anyone caught the preview for the next episode there's a scene where a person inside one of the dharma houses is closing the door. it looks like christian. you only see a glimpse of the person closing it but it certainly looks like him. since the purge happens in the middle to late 80's, i'm guessing ben and his father should be arriving on the island any day now since it's 1977, right? sawyer told juliette it's 1974 when they first get the chance to ride the sub of of dodge, three years later and it's 77. considering ben is in his early 20's when the purge happens, he should be arriving at what age, 12?

Easily one of the best Lost eps...
That shot of the statue was just a terrific "wow" moment. |
