I love "continuing to build" considering the initial "building" strategy essentially began with axing Veronica Mars during the CW's first season. Veronica Mars is certainly more appealing to young women than Supernatural. I mean I understand Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are sexy and all, but that hardly makes the show a "destination" for any chick... same can be said for Reaper. Their PR needs some serious fixing over there.

I don't know what else they have in the pipeline, but it seems feasible that Privileged could return.
Do they still have "black night" used to be Monday on WB but I think they may still have it on Friday's. I know I see commercials for shows that don't look like anything I'd ever watch. I would guess that would take one of there nights away.

I'm glad Supernatural & OTH are coming back. But I'm kinda meh on Smallville. Its one of my favorite shows, but its time to end it. And like everyone else has said, Erica Durance needs to be full time next year.

“As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” CW boss Dawn Ostroff, said in a statement. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”

For someone thats a head of a network Dawn Ostroff is a dumb bitch. I only watch one show on CW (Smallville) but I don't understand the logic in that statement. Even if true why would you want to alienate your male followers in a public statement like that? So I guess when Smallville is over I should assume never to check out their lineup because its for young women? Ok...

The Game and that other show...Half and Hald (?) is done. The cast already knows they are not being picked up for another season. The CW is dumping the rest of UPN's shows.

Unless the Vampire Diaries Pilot is awful...it will get picked up. New Moon comes out in November and The CW is looking to cash in on the vampire craze (should've saved Moonlight...). Its still possible CW will pick up Reaper and Priviledge as 13 episode seasons, since Top Model does not run a full season.

Re: CW Renews 90210, Smallville and More

Not surprised that Smallville is back. I was actually talking with some friends about this last week. Its ratings are too high(by CW standards anyway) to not renew it. It should've lasted 5 years, but greed got the best of the producers and the studio.

One Tree Hill is a lame show that hasn't been consistently good since Season 1 honestly. But I keep watching it, so I guess I'm a sucker.

Gossip Girl is actually pretty solid this season. It had a shaky first year, but they've managed to find a groove with most of the characters(Jenny needs to go however). I think they may wanna consider skipping past the college years ala One Tree Hill, but I look forward to a few more seasons of this show.

90210 is crap. The characters are boring. Half of them aren't even that good looking. The storylines(what few there are) are tired. And most of the adult actors seem to come and go sometimes without any explanation. I guess by that rationale, it's a lot like the original series.

Supernatural I've never watched. But I hear it's a really good show. Hopefully the earlier seasons are released on Blu-ray, so I can give it a look.

Since OTH is coming back I wonder if they will finally say season seven will be its last.

Smallville

I know it has its detractors, but the show is fun, good & bad. Plus the new showrunners seem to actually be moving forward now.

Now we just need to get Reaper to return, assuming this season is pretty solid.

That's what happens when your girlfriend makes her watch her lame shows, you begin to like them. Then you two break up and you find yourself watching Gossip Girl on Monday night just before Raw.

Yeah, I know. Dumb bitch.

Re: CW Renews 90210, Smallville and More

I think I might be done with Smallville. I have a bunch saved on the DVR and I just have no desire to watch them. The only reason they are still on there is because I wanted to see how they wrapped it all up in the end. But I don't think I can make it though those episodes, the rest of this season, and another full season.

It's funny though... shows that I can't get enough of (like Arrested Development) get axed.

Yeah, it's no surprise that the CW renewed SMALLVILLE. It IS a surprise that Tom Welling has stuck with the show this long...you'd think he'd be at the point where he wants to move on.

Since Lex is gone, I was sticking with SMALLVILLE through this season cuz I figured it would be the last.

Now I'm wondering if I should just bail on the show now before it returns.

I've stuck with it for the last 8 years, why bail now? Otherwise IMO, it would have made the last 8 years a waste of time. I'm still having fun with it.

There's no other way he'd be able to make $5-7 million a year... haha

I've been with the show since the pilot and used to enjoy it more. Now I feel like it's more of a self-imposed obligation to watch --and it's so on and off with new eps. I canceled it from my DVR. Maybe I'll change my mind. But I really thought with Lex and Lana gone they would wrap things up this year.

Interestingly, I just realized how odd it is for a show that's been on for 8 years not to be in syndicated reruns. What's up with that?

Re: CW Renews 90210, Smallville and More

I'm AMAZED Smallville is still on the air with all the recent cast changes and all. Seriously, when is the guy going to become Superman already. The 100 episode was the last one I watched. I guess that was three years ago. Wasn't happy about Pa Kent biting the bullet.

Re: CW Renews 90210, Smallville and More

A brief review of the three phases of death for Jonathan "Pa" Kent:
1. Until the 1980s, Pa Kent was dead in every version of Superman past his teen years
2. In the mid-80s, Pa Kent (and Ma Kent) were brought back to life in the revamped Superman comic book. This was followed by alive Pa Kents in Lois and Clark and the animated series of the 90s.
3. With Smallville and recent events in the comics, Pa Kent is now dead again.

Nice to see that Supernatural is spared another year on the bubble.
