I didn't watch every night the past few weeks, but did they ever show a clip of the show where Conan replaced his audience with 4- and 5-year olds? That was one of my favorite episodes.

That was a fitting end to the show. I choked up with his speech at the end. Good luck, Conan.

Re: Late Night with Conan O'Brien the last days
Having a kid and early hours (and forgetting to set the DVR) I missed every episode this week. Conan wasn't required watching for me by any means, but I enjoyed every episode I watched.
Good luck to him, and hopefully his Tonight Show run will be like Late Night but an hour earlier; I wonder what this'll do to Dave since I've often thought of them with the same type of off-the-wall humor.

Just asinine. I think people running the stations at those times who screwed up like that should be fired. Screw up on Last Call, not Conan.

I thought the last episode was woefully underwhelming. OK, but I guess I expected better. I wish he had spent more time with Richter as well showed clips. Then again, I thought the last episode should have been two hours.
And like others said, the White Stripes performance was just awful. Were they sining along to a music track? I swear I heard music in that performance that they were not producing on the two guitars.
I think Conan should release the final two weeks of episodes in one nice DVD box set. Because I could see them putting the last episode on DVD, but I think that was the weakest episode from the past two weeks, so I think it would be great if they put the last ten episodes of this show on DVD.
And then start releasing other full episodes in best of collections.

I wish he would have given Andy an old "You're looking well."
Haven't watched him as regularly as I used to in the mid 90s, but may check out the new earlier show to see where he goes with it.

As far as Fallon, I cannot get excited about his new show at all. I have about as much hope for that as I had for Thicke of the Night or The Pat Sajak Show. I may be begging my local ABC affiliate to move Jimmy Kimmel up an hour earlier so I have that to watch in that time slot instead.

I'm a bit disappointed they didn't revisit many of the classic bits involving Conan and Andy, like the staring contest, desk driving, Year 2000, etc. Besides the Conan farewell speech, I thought the final show was a bit of a let down. Even the 3rd Anniversary show had more "special guests" than the last show. I did like the fact that Conan gushed about Letterman, and all he could say about Leno was he was a real good lead in for the show.

I was watching at work so I didn't see the whole show but I heard part of his closing.
I really dug what he said about Letterman.

All in all I thought the show was pretty mediocre other than the closing of the show, like others have mentioned. Although it was great to see Andy back.

If you are talking about the clip where he kissed her, it was Rebecca Romijn. There's a backstory behind it because he would have these times he would mention her and then he'd yell out STAMOS on his knees, this was when she was still married to John Stamos. Conan had the hots for her and then he got to kiss her and he went nuts. On another note he said he wouldn't change the show when he moves, let's hope it really happens that way.

For my own purposes, I'm imagining that when the White Stripes finished, while the audience was applauding, Conan leaned in to Jack and whispered, "Thanks for ruining my show with that shit, you talentless jackass. I would have been more entertained by getting a dog out here to lick his own nuts for five minutes."

I dont think it was an intentional snub at Dave by Conan, just a weird coincidence, one that Dave probably had a slightly sour laugh at.

Finally got around to watching this yesterday. I, too, was underwhelmed. I expected more guests and less clips. And my DVR cut off as he started talking about Leno, so I didn't get to hear his whole closing.
I like Conan, but was never an avid watcher of the show. I'd never seen that old timey baseball clip before - hilarious!

Somebody please fill me in, how much of Late Night is coming with Conan to California? Someone mentioned on another forum that Max was coming but what about the rest of the Max Weinberg 7? Will Conan's writers be coming along? When is his first episode on the Tonight Show?

As far as I understand it, head writer Mike Sweeney is coming along with the most of the writers that have been around the longest, like Brian McCann. No word on the rest of the writers.
New show starts June 1, 2009.
I am most hoping that Jordan Schlansky and Pierre Bernard come along. Those are some comedy gold mines that can be used.

And here's your host...Conan O-Bri-en!!
Had to give this a day, I watched the last 5 episodes yesterday and was terribly sad after the last episode.
During the last episode, I had already lost it, but I really lost it when Conan said this:
Whew. It was hard to watch that again just now to type it out.
I concur that The White Stripes performance was worse than awful. I fast forwarded through most of it, which I didn't want to do on the last show.
All in all, I am keeping those last two weeks of the show on my DVR forever. As someone mentioned, they really should make a DVD set of those last 10 episodes. I'm sure everyone has a lot of things they wished would have gone on those last 10 shows, but I'm not going to nitpick and you just can't fit in everything.
I'm glad to hear that Brian McCann is going to LA. He did the audience warm-up before the show I went to and that guy is absolutely hilarious.
Pierre Bernard should go out since he's got his acting foot in the door when he was on Stargate SG-1 (yes, I know it's filmed in Canada.) Not to sidetrack too much, but I finally saw that episode and in the commentary they talk for a good 2-3 minutes about Pierre and how much fun they had with him and were talking about having him back (I just finished S8, so I don't know if they did or not.)
Jordan Schlansky. That guy is so interesting. Is he a real person? I wonder if he's ever smiled or laughed? Can anyone confirm that he was Spock in the Attack of the Clones Triumph interviews? I love that part.
The auctions. I ended up winning two of the prop pieces. The stupid auctions ended at 3:00 AM on Saturday and all of the auctions ended at the same time! Whomever set up that auction broke the two cardinal rules of posting items up for auction. They could have made a lot more money if they would have had it end at a reasonable time and spread out each piece by 5-10 minutes. Oh well, that probably helped me out a little bit.
I can't wait for June 1st! The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Wow, that will be hard to get used to.

I can't. This is who I am, for better or worse and umm...yeah...it's just...I just don't know how.

I am about 95% sure that wasn't Jordan in the Spock outfit. Jordan just came on the show in 2007 as a producer.

What props did you win? I must know. I waited until literally the last moment to NOT bid on that damn steering wheel prop again.
Also, I think Jordan has laughed at some point. It's been a few weeks, but I watched a Late Night Underground video of him and a few others bowling in the hallway with the interns (I think that's the context of the clip, anyway). He can't possibly be completely humorless working on that show, can he?

White Stripes? What the hell was that? What a horrible and pointless waste of precious final minutes of Conan's Late Night run. I otherwise enjoyed the last show, and in particular his nod to Letterman. It didn't have the gravity of a Carson-like sign-off, since he is in effect simply going to another time slot, but it was very nostalgic nonetheless.

Man, I was looking all over my Tivo last night getting ready to record The Tonight Show with Conan. Didn't realize it wasn't going to start until June. That stinks.
And regarding the White Stripes, I swear I could almost make out the song they were singing just from the lyrics - but yeah, it was awful. Maybe they didn't have in ear pieces to hear themselves.

I "won" one of the pieces of the blue guest curtain and one of the double-door panels (the ones with the circles on them.) To be honest, the "props" that they had for auction were pretty weak. They were from single episodes, mostly. The only one that I would have been intersted in is his blue water/tea mug, but I already have one! I'm surprised the Eisenhower mug went so high. The Eisenhower mug is something that was just purchased, it wasn't custom made. As for the blue water/tea mugs, there were only about 15 blue mugs made as replicas from the original that Conan's college roomate made for him before he started Late Night. If anyone wants more trivia, the replica mugs were made by Julia Stiles mom. Go figure.
