Late Night with Conan O'Brien the last days

Has anyone been watching? There have been some gems. Triumph making fun of the Star Wars fanboys, Conan and Hunter S. Thompson at a shooting range, Conan and Martha Stewart drinking 40s. I'm going to miss this show cause I think it will lose its edge in the 11:30 timeslot.

This may well be the death of Conan. I hate the move. I don't think the Tonight Show audience will "get it" ratings will suffer (compared to Leno) and he'll be viewed as a failure.

Not to mention that many of the TS viewers will just tune into Leno's new, earlier show and leave Conan's coif flapping in the wind...

I have the final one scheduled for the DVR. Not sure if I'll watch tonight's or not.

I don't see how you can think it's the death of Conan. He's a far better interviewer than Leno is. People that haven't been exposed to him will be pleasantly surprised. His show will have to be toned down, but he's still funny enough that doing cleaner material won't kill him.

I agree. I will be interested to see what he does w/o the bear and the dog.

I hope you're right. But what will be considered a success in NBC's eyes? It'll be measurably less than Leno, though it may be more than he got for himself at Late Night.

Re: Late Night with Conan O'Brien the last days

considering they are dumping Leno in that spot and putting Conan there, I doubt they'd give up on him at all. I think the Tonight Show gig is Conan's for as long as he wants it.

Here's some auction merchandise: http://donations.ebay.com/charity/ch...Order=11#buynp.

I am a huge Conan O'Brien fan. I don't think I've missed an episode since I got my DVR 5 years ago. I was lucky enough a few years back to buy one of his desk mugs, autographed, on e-bay (it's similar to this one. I ended up getting in touch with the prop master there and he got us tickets for the show and we were able to hang out backstage and go through the prop room for like 4 hours. I got to put on Triumph and pull the Walker, Texas Ranger lever and I even got to sit in Conan's chair. That New York trip was the best vacation ever.

Needless to say, I am really sad to see him move from New York. I'm worried the silly stuff they do on the show which makes it unique and fun will get lost at The Tonight Show. I am trying to be optimistic, though. This whole move seems a little forced, though, if you ask me. It will be interesting to see Conan with a whole lot more A-list celebrities, but I just hope none of the genuine attitude of the guests and Conan himself won't be lost. Every time I watch the show, everyone on it seems so real and like they are really having fun. Fingers crossed!

damn that sucks. They're doin a montouge of clips of Conan Singing

Thankfully they cut the warning right before that section of the interview. I am going to absolutely lose it if this happens again tomorrow.

One of the kids who got a piece of the table was from the Today Show this morning. The clip should still be on their website (Conan's interview from 2/19). Neat interview.

Have they had the masturbating bear on these last few weeks? That would be nice to see one last time since you know there's no way that will show up at 11:30PM.

Yeah, they did a bit with the Masturbating Bear and Carrie Fisher falling in love.

Here.

there were several references to it on last nights show.

for the conan singing montouge, who was the old man in the last clip?

Darknite39 02-20-09 02:25 AM

Re: Late Night with Conan O'Brien the last days

The old man? :( He sang with Conan on his very first show (after ribbing him quite humorously during his interview).

Go watch an episode of the Odd Couple and thank me later. :D

I was laughing so hard that I was crying during the Walker Texas Ranger clip: "Walker told me I have AIDS".

I will likely watch Conan a lot more in his new slot, I hope he doesn't have to water it down too much. He's the funniest guy in late night, by far. Triumph IS coming with him, isn't he?
