Sometimes, but in this instance the McFlurry stuff did not work at all and just fell flat.

I think maybe if it were a paid advertisement, they would've done something more interesting with it to make it funny.

Do you think more money for the network makes Tina Fey funnier, or she holds back the funny unless the network gets more money?

Doesn't it make sense that if a writer is forced to place an ad in their show that they'll work harder to make it as funny as possible, as a way of making the forced ad worth it, as opposed to the typical throw-away gag?

An example being how their Verizon ad-integration last season was actually funnier than this McDonald's non-ad.

Doesn't it make more sense that if you give a comedy writer the freedom to do whatever they want, as opposed to forcing requirements, that they'll come up with the funniest stuff?

You didn't like the McD bits, that's cool. I think '30 Rock' has been funnier. But I've worked on a few different TV shows and have been involved with creative types my whole career. They absolutely do not like being directed what can and cannot go into what they create. In fact, I've seen them doing sub par work in these instances with the hope that the Sales Executives won't make them do it again. Not very professional, I feel, but creatives are a different breed.

I'm pretty sure her response, as reported by TVGuide, was sarcastic.

I thought the McD's stuff was pretty stupid, and not "funny product placement" like the Verizon or Snapple moments. It seemed really forced.

Everything else was pretty good though. I missed the Malice reference...I was trying to think if that had happened on the show, but that's great. And the "Stop showing off Dot Com" was genius. I wonder if they've been sitting on that one for a while.

Jon Hamm is pretty funny in real life - he was on Doug Benson's "I Love Movies" podcast awhile back and was hilarious. And I like any situation where Tina Fey makes fun of herself, and this one had it in spades.

Not as good as The Office was this week, but good nonetheless.

So many great lines coming so fast this episode. There was one that really made me , but I can't even remember what it was now. I'm pretty sure it was something Tracy said before he started being Kenneth.

"Are you one of those 'convenient Catholics' who only goes to church on Sundays?"

The roll call of pregnant women in the church, all named A. Alvarez.

That call to move back the reservation during the Lord's Prayer ranks just behind Jack's impression of Tracy's family in my book. It was totally hilarious.

The line about the patron saint of disapproving statues had me rolling.

I hate being the one to correct such an obvious mistake, but after so long I'm glad that someone finally did it.

Re: 30 Rock -- "St. Valentine's Day" -- 2/12/09

I thought this was a great episode as well.

"Our Jonathan, who art in the office, hallowed be my reservation. If you are able, hold my table, at Plunder, as we will not be there by seven. Have them delay our heavenly dessert, and forgive us our lateness, as we forgive those who cause lateness against us." = GOLD

Also, the whole McFlurry thing, I thought, was simply showing the rich/poor differences between Jack and Elisa. They've been doing it since they started dating. This week, it happened to be Jack's $1000 dessert and Elisa's McD's dessert. And then Jack realizing her tastes can be just as good or better than his usual expensive ones. Plus, they also mentioned McD's coffee last week when the Generalissimo said he wanted to go to McD's and just order the coffee.

I don't know, my point is, the McFlurry moments did not seem out of place to me. They seemed to fit with those two characters (and Tina Fey, for that matter).

Summed up my thoughts better than I could.

If it was product placement or not, I'm not going to lie... I've been craving a McFlurry since Thursday night... I probably haven't had one in like 2-3 years, but I really have wanted to get one these last few days...

I didn't realize she was the blind girl until I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall again tonight on HBO, it actually makes their scenes that much funnier in both Forgetting Sarah Marshall (though Kenneth trying to nail her properly in the movie was hilarious to begin with) and 30 Rock.
