This is why this show wins the Emmy award...brilliant.
And Jon Hamm can bring the funny, who knew? Good for him.
And how hot did Selma and Tin Fey look in this episode....

What's great is watching this after The Office, you can see a world of difference in the last few episodes

Just an average episode, but honestly, it'd be really tough to top last week's.
I love how after Jack complimented Liz's scarf, she said she found it at Dunkin Donuts (but Jack cut off her reply). Great call back to her being one of those "pathetic lonely people" or whatever the phrase was.

I liked the Dunkin reference too. I also hope they got paid for the McDonald's ad. Didn't they have a similar thing with Verizon or some phone/phone company a while back?
The average 30 Rock episode is funnier than most series' best episodes.

I think I laughed more this week than last tbh.
That said, yeah, 30 Rock integrates their Product Placement in amusing ways, they bring attention to it instead of trying to be sly.
During MILF Island episode, Pete got crushed by a Soyjoy Machine and the episode of MILF Island was "brought to you by Soyjoy". The way it was handled, I couldn't tell if it was a real product or not. The Verizon ep had Liz looking directly at the camera and busting out with "Can we have our money now?", this ep had "These mcflurries are amazing!"... and were at the center of the Jack plot.
Hayek eating a McFlurry saying how you would think candy/cookies and ice cream would fight and stating it's the best dessert ever would make a great actual ad.
I'm pretty sure I'm hot

Enjoyed the episode but not sure what I think of Selma Hayek. Church on Valentines?
What was with all the McFlurry references?

Another awesome episode. Once again, I had to pause the DVR a couple times on some of Tracy's impressions of Kenneth.
Did anyone else notice the very odd ADR at the end with Jack and Salma's character at McDonald's? The timing seemed off and it wasn't matched at all to sound like it was in the environment it was shot.

"30 Rock" gets paid for product placement within the show as well as for the commercials. They've done it several times before with Snapple and other products. I don't know how that works when the show goes into syndication, whether they just cut those scenes out or leave them in. My guess is they'll be cut.

Hopefully it doesn't end up being our loss too. It's not exactly killing in the ratings so hopefully it doesn't have the same fate as Arrested Development where it takes the show's cancellation for it to catch on. Luckily, NBC seems more committed to 30 Rock so far (I think it's already slated to get a 4th season).

30 Rock Boss Tina Fey Addresses a McFlurry of Criticism
* Feb 13, 2009 06:31 PM ET
* by Matt Mitovich
Did NBC's 30 Rock, akin to Saturday Night Live's recent (and well-scrutinized) partnership with Pepsi, cross a line by conspicuously incorporating McDonald's into a storyline?
As this week's episode opened, Jack (Alec Baldwin) and lady love Elisa (guest star Salma Hayek) reveled in the glory of "the world's greatest dessert," the McFlurry. Later, after their romance went south (blame the Catholic church), the couple patched things up at an actual McDonald's, even giving props to the fast-food franchise's founder, Ray Kroc.
Organic storyline progression (Elisa's affection for the McFlurry had been established weeks ago) or overt product placement? In the following statement, 30 Rock lead and executive producer Tina Fey (winningly) sets the record straight:
"It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the references to McDonald's in last night's episode of 30 Rock were in no way product placement. (Nor were they an attempt at product placement that fell through.) We received no money from the McDonald's Corporation. We were actually a little worried they might sue us. That's just the kind of revenue-generating masterminds we are.
"Also, the upcoming story line where Liz Lemon starts dating Grimace is just based on a recurring dream I have.
"Seriously, though, it's not product placement.
"Also, whoever is writing my Twitter account is pretty funny, but it's not me."
What's your take, TVGuide.com readers? Product placement or not, does weaving real-life brands into a TV show bother you? And when it actually is orchestr

Criticism? Seriously? Even if it was an ad for McD's I wouldn't care. 30 Rock has just seemed to find a way to make shit work no matter what. I mean listening to Selma describing how good McFlurrys are was great. I could listen to her saying that all day.
The thing with Snapple a while back was hilarious.

30 Rock is such a perfect tool for product promotion that I actually like seeing it. If it keeps the show on the air and they continue to do it as well as they have, I'm all for it.

I think the wind blowing Liz's bathroom door open was the funniest thing I've seen so far this year.
"Whoa, too soon!"
