I liked the premiere a lot more than I thought I would. I was halfway out the door with last season's debacle.
I like the cast and what I see so far.. keep it comin

What's all the Janeane Garafalo bashing about her not looking good on HD ?
Not everyone has to look like a supermodel on TV ! good to have ugly people on tv too !
We already know Tony isn't the head honcho in the terrorist cell, but i hope we don't see him predictably change sides.
I agree the First Man and his dopey dead son's story is the weakest.

Her politics have absolutely nothing to do with what's going on in the show.
However, her being in the show is a complete distraction to me and almost a deal-breaker that would stop me from watching the show altogether.
Here are a couple of classy Garofalo quotes:
"When Communist U.S.S.R. was a superpower, the world was better off."
"When I see the American flag, I go, 'Oh my God, you're insulting me.'"

I bring it up because it distracts my enjoyment of the show.
Even before she blew a fuse and went all bat-shit crazy I never found her funny, or talented. They might as well have cast Dane Cook.
The real question is why does it bother you that I bring it up?

I guess because i never get why politics has to be part of any discussion about a persons
acting skills.
maybe we should bring back that dopey politician from the 50's who was blacklisting everyone.
anyway...

pretty good first two hours in my opinion. looks like things might move quickly this season, well at least for the first 3 or 4 hours.

I thought it was a great premiere, felt like strong 24 fashion. I predict
I am surprised at much of the criticism here. Sure, it had it's "24 moments" where you knew what was going to happen because you'd see the past 6 seasons, but overall it was solid action/suspense TV.

Tom Cruise is batshit crazy but Top Gun is still entertaining regardless.

I liked when Jack was pulled from his testimony, Senator Red said, 'We'll see you back here tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock.' Lots of shit is going to go down between now and then.
It could turn out to be a pretty cool little set of bookends for the season.

So, were we supposed to know that the President's son was killed? AFAIK, Redemption ended with them watching her speech, and it was left at that.

Nope, but it was implied they were going to have him killed in redemption after the bad guys found out he received the info from his friend. So at this point we know the girlfriend had something to do with it and we know who one of the major players is.
