Wait--WHY did Jack Tripper have to pretend to be gay?

That must have been the episode where there wasn't a misunderstanding.

Somewhat related, I think John Ritter was an excellent physical comedian and would've been terrific during the silent era. He would be mentioned with Chaplin, Lloyd, Keaton, etc.

I haven't seen the show in a few years but I still found it funny then. The show was built on misunderstandings and juvenile humor. Gotta love it for that.

Didnt one episode win an emmy? The one where Jack and Janet try computer dating and end up dating each other but at the end of the episode walk off arm in arm as friends?
Or was it the one where Jack has to dress up like an old lady to enter a cookie baking contest and wins! Then has to reveal himself!

That's one of my favorites - using the cough drops was the key.

This thread reminds me of how much I miss John Ritter.

You know it is funny, when I was in college I took a Classical Civilization course entitled "Sexuality & Sexual Stereotype in Greek & Roman Culture". We read all these ancient Greek comedies and they read almost exactly like scripts of Three's Company! They were filled with misunderstandings and sexual innuendo. It was pretty amazing how long ago this type of humor was established.

Chrissy, You've gotta hear this. I didn't hear the whole thing, but I think Jadzia is getting sex from Al in Menudo.

When Agamedes was planning on celebrating the Athenian hoplite victory at the Battle of Marathon by making sweet, sweet love to his teenage apprentice, Troy, only it turns out that Troy was actually 20 and a woman and his wife! Oh, the uproarious mocking Agamedes suffered from his fellow Plutocrats!
...good times....

I wish my life was like an episode of Three's Company. Too funny.
It makes me think of another show that is filled with sexual inuendo and misunderstandings-- the Britcom, "Are You Being Served" which I think aired during the 70's too.

Actually, I don't think recent shows are much better. As far as I'm concerned Frasier was just a more sophisticated Three's Company with the same misunderstandings and sexual innuendo. Probably explains why I only watch a couple of TV shows anymore.

That's a great one. He goes as Janet's date to make "Greg Brady" jealous and poses as someone with 5 different occupations.
