Ugly Betty Casting Spoiler

Gorham is out and Freddy Rodriguez (Gio) is only appearing in 1 episode.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Christopher Gorham, who plays the endearing accountant Henry on "Ugly Betty," has left the show to co-star on CBS' midseason drama "Harper's Island."

The serialized horror story revolves around a group of friends who meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding. Gorham will play the groom-to-be, also called Henry.

On ABC's "Ugly Betty," the rivalry between Henry and Gio (Freddy Rodriguez) for Betty's (America Ferrera) heart culminated in the Season 2 finale where the final scene showed Betty seemingly making her choice, but the lucky guy was not revealed.

Rodriguez, who has features lined up, is not expected to come back for more than one episode.

That means a new love life for Betty. She is not expected to stay on the sidelines for long; hunk Val Emmich was just cast as Jesse, a recurring character and new love interest for Betty.

Gorham first appeared on "Betty" as a guest star in fall 2006.

Thank god. They pretty much ruined his character anyway.

Old news to many Betty fans. I guess it took this long to make it official.

Oh, Harper's Island sounds promising.

Good. I was getting so tired of that love triangle.

It would if it was on any other network than CBS... that they're considering something serialized is scary in and of itself. Frankly Gorham should know better after CBS axed his last show Out of Practice after only 14 episodes.

I have to admit that this will be better for the show. I was tired of that storyline anyway... although tossing Freddy to the curb like that is kinda weak.

I guess that means that Betty probably went off by herself at the end of last season's finale, like many of us were thinking. Kinda takes a bit of the drama from the season opener. But I agree that they really drove those characters into the ground. I never really warmed to Gio, and while I liked Henry in the beginning, he had become pretty unlikable toward the end.

I'm not sad to see him go. I found the whole love triangle very tedious.

I don't really care that both are gone, but it is annoying when shows string out a storyline like this over a full season, and then drop it at the beginning next season, basically doing a reload ala Alias.
