Newhart, WKRP in Cincinnati and The Honeymooners to start airing on WGN

From the wgn website:

OUTTA' SIGHT RETRO NIGHT

You don't have to be classy, to be classic. Remember when TV was good, decent and wholesome? Remember when sitcoms had integrity? WE'RE BRINGING IT ALL BACK.

Sunday Nights, put your mind on rewind... starting at 7 east | 4 west.

I say screw Nick at Night. I am very happy to have Newhart back....sadly only on Sundays.

I was hoping when I saw this that it would be daily airings. With only S1 of WKRP out, I need my WKRP fix. Don't if I would call it wholesome though.

As long as their cuts of the shows are NOT syndication cuts and contain all the original music, this could be cool.

They don't have the original music. They actually started running "WKRP" in June. "Johnny Fever" announced he just played "Youngblood," and it was definitely not that song. The WKRP reruns in on Nick at Nite and TVLand had the original music, but since it came out on DVD, I guess they no longer have those versions available for broadcast. It does diminish the show. The music they have isn't even a good substitute.

I stumbled upon this last Sunday and it happened to be the famous 'Turkeys Away' episode of WKRP.

The AmericanLife TV Network has been running Newhart & WKRP on Monday nights for months now along with the 70's Bob Newhart Show & Mary Tyler Moore Show.

I haven't watched KRP so can't comment on music issues.

What happened to TV Land and Nick at Nite? All the great shows are on in the morning, or at 2AM? Now we have a bevy of Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Roseanne, and George Lopez? What happened to Cheers, All in the Family, Threes Company being on primetime?

The only "classic" shows they are now (TV Land only) is Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, and The Beverly Hillbillies.

Man, I use to love Nick at Nite and TVLand. You could count them to air 'Green Aces', 'Batman', 'Shazam', 'Wonder Woman' , 'All In the Family' and other great shows.

TV Land has turned into crap and just rename themselves as TV wasteland-

They keep canceling the classics and have more reality crap added.

Just look at the TV Land forums and see that there are allot of people who want CLASSICS! http://forums.tvland.com/tvln/board?...rogramcomments

Larry Jones has turned the once great TV Land into pure crap!

I think it has to do with getting better ratings with the reality stuff. I don't think it fits in with the name of the network or their mission statement.
