So the way I see it there are a handful of things that the writers will "fix" in the next 2 weeks:

Explain what happens to Lex
Fix Kara
Fix Lana
Clark stop Lex from controlling him

Am I missing anything?

Thanks for that explanation. That makes sense... however in terms of Smallville canon, didn't Lana wear a kryptonite necklace for most of her life without suffering a similar consequence? Obviously this was an alternate reality, but that's kind of a glaring difference in the Superman lore.

Yep and it pretty much looks like all that will happen based on the synopsis for each of those two episodes... not sure about Kara, but a promo on the CW this week made a reference that she is back, but I'm thinking the Brainiac storyline is the only cliffhanger potential this season's finale has got to work with at this point...

I hate to say this, but based on the past week or two, I'm begining to wonder if I'll bother to come back for S8. I've enjoyed the past 7 years, especially last year, but lately I've begun to feel like the show is going in circles. Before, it was enough for me to get small doses of mythology and destiny, but every time I feel like Clark learns something and is about to become the package that is Superman, they take steps backward. I'm to the point where I'm tired of it. Additionally, I feel like whatever they have in store to "wrap up" Lex's story will make me feel cheated based on where we started back in S1.

Ugh. Can't take it anymore. Dropping Smallville. Someone PM me when Clark stops being a pussy. Thank you in advance.

That's been my biggest complaint lately. He's just such an emotional weakling. Never gets mad about anything, unless it's dealing with Lana.

If you've come this far you should at least stick it out until the beginning of next season and see how the new executive producers handle everything. I am looking forward to having some new creative minds running the show.

It's the same exact writing staff that is there now. They just got new titles.

So as a negative:

Same writer that has done almost nothing this season (ep 2) is writing this week's episode.

As something positive:

Same writers that handled "Traveler" and "Descent" (which was epic) are handling the fianle.

I'll also note that the last episode Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote was the S4 opener.
