The second season ends on a cliff hanger, but was not renewed by CBC despite good ratings, possibly for the reasons outlined in the review (presuming this is the review to which you refer).

Yeah, it sucks that it was canceled. I think I saw a rumor somewhere that it might be picked up by a US broadcaster. Not sure if they would pick it up where it left off, or an American remake. Or neither.
