the only decent performance was brooke's
edit: why dont they add some "anything goes" nights? i would love to see the idols perform their actual favorite songs. and you know damn well that fox and AI can afford the rights to just about any song.

I have always wanted to seem them do a "James Bond" movie theme night.
Goldfinger...The Spy Who Loved Me...You Only Live Twice...A View to a Kill...We have All the Time in The World...etc.
But I would settle for just another movie soundtrack night.
I also would love for them to do a "Should have been a hit" night. Take a song that was an album track or an unknown single and re-make it into a hit song of their own. There are so many good songs that could be re-done, rather than covering the same old songs that were already hits and never stand up to the original.

Well apparently I'm the only one that doesn't like Brooke. She's basically female Archuletta with the over the top bashfulness. Atleast Idol people are doing her hair now and it doesn't look like a 3 year old did it.

Brooke is like a new version of Edie Brickell. I see her having a career but not as "American Idol". Hopefully she will lose so she can forge her own career in her own way. She needs to do something more rootsy, singer-songwriterish, not be a packaged Diva.

There are a lot of corny James Bond songs. Maybe Ramiele could do Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Or Jason Castro could do Underneath the Mango Tree.

Oh, and another vote to ace the live phone-in segment. Really dumb and I didn't see the point. If they want to have the public ask questions, just do it with the in-studio audience.
Or not.

Speaking of David Archuleta, during the group sing he actually belted out a few words and sounded pretty good, I hope he belts out some songs this year.

This coming week will be more Beatles songs again (sorry, Lenin / McCartney songs), which is a very good thing. If you remember, last year they had Diana Ross in Week 12 and Peter Noonan / Lulu (?) in Week 11, having Lenin / McCartney songs is a great improvement.
I was watching one of the Idol shows on TV Guide Network, apparently Chikezie met Stevie Wonder in a cell phone store after Chikezie made it to the Top 24. Wonder mentored the group in Season 5 and Chikezie basically asked him to come back, we'll see if it works.

However, you're probably right...and I shudder to imagine Cook's strained hollering of the chorus.
Concluded by "the wink".

Incidentally, finally watched "Across the Universe" last weekend (got it with the B1G1 with free shipping sale from Columbia House). Although we both found the story to be pretty shallow & predictable, there were some interesting takes on some Beatles numbers (along with some ordinary ones). Just wondered if any of the contestants might be considering swiping some of those arrangements. There was one song that had a country vibe to it...KLC might want to take note, although she may be gun-shy after her narrow escape last week.
I wonder who's going to tackle "Happiness Is a Warm Gun".
