American Idol, Final 12 - March 11 / 12

Two hour performance of the final 12 tonight, 7pm CDT / 8pm EST. Results show will be on Wednesday, 8pm CDT / 9pm EST.

So, who do you think will go home after tonight's performance?

I've left off David Archuletta and Carly Smithson, the two favorites.

Vote for who you *think* will be voted off, not who you would like to see voted off. And votes are public, usernames as well as who they voted for will be shown (never used that option before, we'll see how it works out).

This poll will close at 1:30 am on March 12th (Wednesday) - I meant for it to close later than that but can't figure out how to modify the poll's options nor can I delete the thread and start over - would a moderator please change it to a 2-day poll? Thanks!

Hmm I voted for Chikezie b/c I don't foresee the theme working for him although it is probable that someone else will have a worse performance tomorrow night - Amanda perhaps?

Amanda

David Archuleta To Sing Like Steve Wonder On American Idol
by Paul Cashmere - March 11 2008

American Idol one-to-watch David Archuleta will do a Beatles song on this week's show but he won't be using their arrangement. Instead, Archuleta will cover the McCartney classic the way his hero Stevie Wonder recorded it.

David will perform 'We Can Work It Out'.

Although the song was first written and recorded by The Beatles, Stevie Wonder had a major hit with a rhythm 'n' blues version of song when in the 70s.

Archuleta is the one they expect will win this year's show. His talent is well above the other finalists.

David cites Wonder as one of his influences, along with Natalie Cole, Kirk Franklin and Bryan Adams.

'We Can Work It Out' by Archuleta will come complete with a string section.

Archuleta is from Murray, Utah but auditioned for the show in San Diego.

I voted KLC, but I fear it will be Syesha.

Without seeing the performances I picked Cook. The way she performs just bothers me. She pulls some really weird poses and expressions.

neale 03-11-08 09:48 AM

Is it true that tonight is Lennon/McCartney songs?

Please let it be Amanda.
I can't watch when she comes on.
Seriously.

Chikezie is who I think will go... But now since Kady is gone, I have no dog in this fight so I don't know who to pull for.

Seriously? I've always pegged Syesha to make it to the Top 4... or she has a damn_good chance to do it. Sometimes she has too much personality.

I voted KLC.

Oh, I hope they don't f-up the songs tonight. It would make me cry.

I think she's great, but she's disappearing into the crowd. She's the perfect candidate for a shocking departure because everyone just assumed she's safe and voted for someone in greater need of help. It probably won't happen, but I have this sinking feeling she'll be the one to go way sooner than she's supposed to this season.

Based on Chikeze's performance tonight...he does NOT deserve to go home. I loved love loved it!!!!!

GuessWho 03-11-08 07:25 PM

My vote above for Chikeze was premature--had his best yet tonight

magiccmom 03-11-08 08:33 PM

Archuletta is last again?????

Hulkabrgr 03-11-08 08:48 PM

The only negative about Kristy being voted off tomorrow night is we will have to hear that song again

namrfumot 03-11-08 08:53 PM

wtf is up with archuleta?? sounded like he was forgetting the lyrics

OMG, OMG, OMG!!! It's a new set!!! Somebody hold me.

Contractually obligated not to use the word "Beatles"?

"For those who are going to take the risk, it better be worth the reward." Thank you, Paula. On with the show.

Syesha proves that even with a terrible hair-don't, she's still beautiful. Boring song choice and all over the map with the performance. :( Here's hoping someone stinks it up worse than this to keep her around.

Chikezie's fashion sense is one step removed from Digger Phelps and his tie-lighter. Don't ever tell America, "I was ready to go home." I know people around here don't like this guy, but I say again -- I love what he brings to this show. He has the energy of Taylor Hicks with the added benefit of a little thing we like to call talent.

Ramiele reminds me of the last member of an alliance on Survivor. All her friends were kicked off the island, and she's just barely hanging on. This was her most emotional performance so far, and it is a sweet song, but she continues to have a serious bore factor going on. Oh noze! Paula signs her death warrant with the dreaded, "You look lovely tonight." Ouch. I started off rooting for Ramiele, because she clearly has talent and is a cute little girl, but I'm done with that.

What number do I call to never see another interview with Jason Castro? Interesting that he pretty much fell into the same trap as Ramiele but did it much better, genuinely connecting with the song. Simon's right, though. It was middle-of-the-road and safe.

Still can't stop laughing at how stupid Carly looks with Barbie-doll make-up and that hideous tattoo. I thought this was going great until she started blowing out the high notes like she normally does. Her voice clips like a bad mp3 at times. Still, her best performance so far. But God damn, it's annoying how much the judges want her to win.

David Cook really thinks he's a rock star. I guess it's good somebody does. Next.

Suck on that, Carly. I'd rather listen to Brooke do that any day of the week. Simple, honest, beautiful.

David, David, David. How can you sing "I Saw Her Standing There" like that without a Little Richard "WOOOOO!"? Either go for it or don't. I like him (particularly how receptive he was to the valid criticism), but this was not his night, dawg.

Amanda ardu blublah faba dara daba. If she carah na for, I'm pretty sure we blah flurba shaw.

I'm not a big fan of Michael Johns (or that song, really), but it's a difficult piece to sing, and I think he did a really nice job with it. I'd prefer he not look like he's taking a powerful dump while belting out those notes, though.

A country song? I don't think so. Maybe in double-time. There's not a country singer on the planet (with all her teeth) who would do that. What the fuck? My vote is safe.

Damn, this show's long.

Did Giggles forget the words? ERR-OR! ERR-OR! Someone get the engineers in the AI Labs on the red phone! Whoops! It had to happen sooner or later.

magiccmom 03-11-08 09:09 PM

Fave performances of the night: Brooke White (she proves what pure talent can do, simply beautiful and fully connects to me each week), Chikeze...who knew? Awesome arrangement!, Michael Johns,..I liked that rendition, and David Cook...

Good but not great for me...Carly & Jason

Good but BORING...Sayesha & Ramielle

Awful...David Hernandez, David Archuletta, Amanda Overmeyer and Kristy Lee Cook..

Going home? My vote is for KLC! Every song country now?

Ryan's schtick with Simon is getting really old and uncomfortable! He needs to stop.
