Paula point blank told him to come without the guitar for next weeks show. He did a good job with that song.

David Cook's rocking version of "Hello" was terrific and song of the night IMO. Seriously, I think it should be recorded and released as a single. Castro's version of "Hallelujah" was #2 although he stumbled a bit at the end. And I had no idea that Leonard Cohen wrote "Hallelujah"; I had always associated it with Jeff Buckley.

David Archuleta is pathetic. He butchered "Imagine" last week and he butchered "Another Day in Paradise" last night. His arrangements are TERRIBLE. He tries to change things up to make them sound different but his complete lack of a sense of pacing/timing ruins everything he touches. I know he's got all the girls voting for him but please ladies don't listen to Simon and vote this guy into the final two. Please.

Luke & (especially) Danny are hopefully gone.

Castro's version still pales in comparison to this one:

Looks like we have another Daughtry situation with David Cook.

I agree with everyone that Luke is gone. I hope Danny sticks around just because he is entertaining, it's just fun to laugh at him. I hope Michael Johns sticks around for another week just to do a INXS song and tell Randy that Simple Minds did it.

And I have a suggestion for the thread. Can somebody post a list of what song each person performed? maybe if you are doing a write up of every performer, just throw that info in the mix. Thanks.

I didn't know I needed redeeming but hey, redemption's always a good thing.

David Cook's "Hello" - BEST American Idol performance of Season 7, IMHO.

Michael Johns the Aussie guy reminded me last night of a morph of Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) with Dane Cook's comedy in the round.

Nice find TwineTime! It's not surprising that the arrangement was lifted from somewhere else, but I'm just not informed enough on emo/alt-rock to catch it. Kind of like Daughtry's "amazing" and "original" arrangements of Johnny Cash and Stevie Wonder - only to have them revealed as Live and RHCP songs (though in my defense, I recognized the Chili Peppers' cover)

I can't stand Cook - but I have to admit, I listened to "Hello" two times - it was very good.

Can't take credit for finding it. The info is on several other sites.

I'm not a Cook fan, but in his defense, his arrangement is quite different.

Chikezie and Cook were my favorites last night. I was not feeling the Castro song at all. I know the song, but just I'm not a fan of his voice, or the song for that matter.
