Entertainment Weekly is reporting the strike is still on. The WGA President sent an e-mail to have it's members picket tomorrow.

Looks like those last minute talks ended when the East Coast went on strike while the talks were still happening on the West Coast.
Too bad for this TV season. I thought it was one of the stronger ones in recent memory. Arrggh...

True that. I was surprised that we've come this far and, with the exception of the horrible Viva Laughlin, I think all of the new fall shows are still on. Usually if I like it, it's gone, so I expected Pushing Daisies and Life to be gone by now.

This is gonna really suck......

I can see it now:

Pushing Daisies: The Incomplete 1st season DVD.

This is going to really suck. I guess the 2007-08 TV season is officially washed out.

This is going to be a messy end to the season, as well as possibly being a mess going into next year's movies, depending on how long the strike lasts.

I wonder what's going to happen immediately to Stewart/Colbert and Leno/Letterman.

Dave and Conan are credited as writers as well, do they boycot their own shows?

It's been already reported they'll be in repeats.

I thought writer-performers could still work.

And other than the monologue and a sketch ... why? It's basically an interview show.

As I understand it, they can perform their producing and performance duties, but they can't write anything. I would imagine reruns for a couple of weeks and then they'll be back with extended guest segments and some ad libbing.

TDS and the Report, or the other late night shows? There's no way TDS or the Report could go on with no writers.

Even Colbert can't riff about himself in character everyday for weeks on end.

I'm talking about Dave/Leno/Conan/Ferguson/Daly.

I do wish however, this could somehow effect the WWE writers.

I would think Ferguson would be the least affected, since he doesn't really have a scripted monologue.

Also, it's been reported that the other unions may not cross the picket lines, so that the filming of the existing scripts may grind to a halt and the tv season could end even earlier.

I very specifically remember the entire summer going with no Letterman in 1988.

Why didn't they add a poll to this thread to see who's side we are on?

Can you post your source on this? I'm very interested to read more about this topic.

It’s not like I don’t have nothing to watch; I buy DVDs every week and I have DVDs to catch up on but I’m very sad that the WGA Strike is actually happening.

I guess the last season of Scrubs has officially been fu*ked and gems like 30 Rock and the best new show of the season, Pushing Daisies, is down the hole. I watch so many shows in Primetime it’s not even funny but I’m saddened the most about those three shows. Anybody could write an episode of CSI: Miami; Caruso standing there for 41 minutes.

Thank goodness for Ferguson and his unscripted monologues.

Well, on the bright side, at least I can catch up to the stuff sitting on my DVR.

Stewart Will Keep Striking 'Daily' Writers Afloat
In a show of solidarity with his fellow scribes, the Daily Show host has told his writing staff that he will cover all their salaries for the next two weeks, according to a well-placed source. He has also vowed to do the same for writers on The Colbert Report.
Coming Soon !!
In addition to another cycle of Dancing With the Stars, ABC is developing game show Duel, based on a French game-show format that has contestants bluff their way through a series of trivia questions. Also on ABC’s docket: Wanna Bet?, based on a German formula that has contestants betting whether they can perform stunts. CBS is working on an updated version of Password as well as Do You Trust Me?, in which strangers team up in a bid for cash, and the Mark Burnett-produced contest Jingles.

Even before the writers’ strike posed a threat to broadcasters, The CW was planning a reality-heavy spring with the addition of two new nonscripteds: Farmer Wants a Wife and Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants, as well as new cycles of America’s Next Top Model and Pussycat Dolls Present.

Over at Fox, there’s a new season of American Idol—which may be all that network needs. Just in case, there’s the new quiz show Nothing But The Truth, Donald Trump’s charm school contest Lady or a Tramp, and Smile! You’re Under Arrest, a comic take on Cops.

NBC, meanwhile, has the quiz show Amnesia, bluffing game The Interrogator and a remake of American Gladiators (*As long as they don't screw it up, I actually want to see this).

Good thing The Wire's already wrapped shooting their final season, which premiers in January. It's pretty much the only show I really care about...
