That episode with the invisible elephant and animals was pretty good albiet different. The intro with the elephant on the street was cool... was it real? Looked like it when they had a Semi speeding head on into it.

Heat, I got them all when BB has a sale for all fox shows for $20, plus I used a $10 off any fox show coupon. Making them alll $10 :) Naturally as soon as I bought them all they announced the series box.

Well if you decide you want the box set i'm sure someone (me! me! me!) would happily buy the individual seasons off you for around what you paid. :D

Well If I sold them Im sure Id get more that what I paid for each set. But considering how many bought the show with that BB coupon Im sure others are trying to sell them off. Cause going by this thread, none of them are watching along with me :D

Just finished Season 2 last night and DAMN what a cliffhanger! I wont start Season 3 for awhile as I like to give shows a break before diving back into them

I think the downhill slide of The X-Files really started about midway through Season 6, because (IMO) that's when the "Mythology" stuff basically jumped the rails. However, there were still a lot of outstanding standalone (aka "MOTW") episodes after that as well as in S7 and S8. (S9, though, had no standout episodes at all, IMO.)

Ravenous 11-06-07 06:49 PM

Well with the release of the complete series today I thought Id bump this. Anyone picking it up and watching the show again?

I just started Season 3 and am 4 episodes in. Its been great so far the and episode with Peter Boyle was the awesome!

DVDMagic 11-07-07 01:34 PM

Yeah. I sold off all my old season sets and aim to pick this up at some point over the enxt week or so, depending on when DD have their sale.

Cant wait!!

7Keys 11-07-07 08:41 PM

I'm watching my seasons again. I think I'm on Season 4, I just finished watching Memento Mori (or whatever it's called). The episode where Scully
Spoiler:
finds out she has cancer.

I paid more for my XFiles Seasons than any other DVDs I own. Most were over $100 when they came out and I didn't know all the Internet spots back then. But it was money well spent. I've gotten a lot of mileage from S1-6. I may pick up S7 someday. There were a few good eps from that year.

Ravenous 01-21-08 03:00 PM

Well Im ressurecting this cause I just started season 4 and I just saw the episode 'HOME'

That was one FUCKED up episode. But awesome!

This seems as good a place as any to ask: Who is Krychek and what's he like?

You can answer in spoilers if it gives too much away, for the OP or other DVD viewers.

This morning is the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard other characters on other shows being referred to as a Krychek-type character, so I'm wondering what is meant.

Bought them from that sale, and seeing this thread today caused me to finally pop it in (as well as a new years resolution to get through my back catalog). On episode 2 right now.

I don't agree with the nasty sentiments regarding Krychek. I think he was just a glorified mercenary for the most part. I was always excited when he popped up into a storyline after going rogue because it meant the episode was gonna be juicy! Special Agent Jeffrey Spender, Assistant Director Brad Follmer, or Deputy Director Alvin Kersh on the other hand... now there's a bunch of genuine asshats each in their own special way. ;)

7Keys 01-22-08 09:05 PM

Rat or not, Krychek was probably my favorite character on the show.

Don't listen to those naysayers and keep watching until the end. There are some really good episodes in the latter seasons.

Michael Corvin 01-23-08 10:04 AM

I agree with the last two posts.

No, listen to us. Really.

Don't listen to them. Really. Yes the latter seasons weren't as good as the earlier ones, but they were still better than most shows on television. Watch until the end and then form you're own opinion.

When I first watched the final four seasons (and in particular the last two) I felt they were so bad they destroyed my love of the show. Luckily, with time, I got over it- but those final four seasons are absolutely terrible.

He was a glorified Mercenary, Thats why we call him what we do, also that became his moniker, because Mulder called him that I believe. Or some variation of it.

Spoiler about Agent Spender

Spoiler:
Spender actually redeemed himself (or tried to redeem) before he got off'ed

I agree, I actually thought season 8 was better than season 7. Sure the Mythology episodes were beyond idiotic by now, but the 'monsters of the week' episodes, especially in season 8, were pretty good. It was also nice to see Scully as the believer and doggett as the debunker.

Wormwood 01-23-08 02:20 PM

Tracer Bullet, I respect your opinion. I understand that people will either love it or hate it. As for me, I loved the entire series as a whole, I don't think there was any part of it that actually ruined the show for me. Yes the mythology was dragged on and on and on, but I still enjoyed the ride. I'm very glad though that the new movie won't have a plot that has anything do do with the mythology.

I loved Dogget. If you ignore the mythology and only focus on the MOTW episodes there are still some good ones in the last couple of seasons. I loved Roadrunners in season 8.
