July 27) - The LA Times is reporting that ABC plans to hire Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd as the new 'View' hosts.

According to the Times, negotiations are under way with Goldberg and Shepherd and an official announcement is expected next week.

Whoopi is strapped for cash... she needs the work

The funny thing is that I had no idea who Sherri Shepherd was until...

Shepherd is fine, but Whoopi won't be a good fit for the show, IMO.

I listen to Whoopi's morning show here in Chicago on the drive in to work...her brand of comedy is definitely an acquired taste. I actually chuckle now.

i wonder if people complained about no diversity on the show once star left. i've never heard of shepherd. has whoppi stopped doing hollywood squares?

Sherri Shepherd doesn't believe evolution is real, so maybe when it comes to politics, she might be another conservative voice on the show.

The most interesting thing about Sherri is that she was estranged from her husband for a while because he was having an affair.. he had a child with the woman he was having the affair with.. after a long separation she and her husband are back together and trying to work it out... even sharing custody of his love child.

While Sherri is a Christian with some conservative beliefs, she is a democrat even saying that she wants Obama to be President next.

But the best part of that story is the restraining order and her threatening to kill her husband.

I doubt it. She was paid $6 million for Sister Act 2. Of course that was like 15 years ago so you might be rigth

It has been off the air for a few years now. She left a couple of seasons before it went off the air.

it doesnt matter.... i will watch it until they have a spanish perspective... maybe roselyn sanchez or Sofia Vergara or the weather girl from the spanish channel...

How can Whoopi be strapped for cash? Between the nun movies and Hollywood Squares, she should be loaded.

I like Whoopi Goldberg, but I don't know how well she'll go over with, The Walter. I have no idea who Sharri Shepherds is.

I wish I could sit at a table for an hour (45 minutes w/o Cmrs.) & talk about stuff I have opinions on, that no one else cares about. Maybe if they let males on the show, I could get a position on the show & talk about DVDs & TV shows for an hour. Then if someone says, "Scrubs Sucks" I can go on a 40 hour (40 episodes) rant why it, "Doesn't Suck!".
